A/N: Sorry this one is so short, I think I'll make the next one really long. Hope you like!

Ethan stared at Amelia. He knew she wasn't overreacting and that he should be protecting himself but he couldn't just leave her to die! He gritted his teeth. How could he protect them both? He realized he was staring and blushed as his friends nudged him. That was certainly not the way to fix anything. He turned back to his sandwich but his stomach was twisting. He felt so helpless. Like he should be the one saving her and here he was wanting to hide. He should be like the hero in her books, swooping in and saving her. The tiny, annoying part of his brain told him that she was the one with the powers and so she could protect herself. He quickly squashed that thought. If the poachers could capture so many magically enabled people and animals, they probably had protection. He struggled over his worries for a while until a weak plan formed in his head. He would wait a little after school and then sneak over to Amelia's house to check on her. He wasn't exactly sure what he planned to do if she was in danger but he would think of something. He calmed down a little now that he felt more prepared. By the time the lunch bell rang he felt ready. Plan Damsel in Distress was a go.
