Act 1 Scene 17: Together Forever

Duncan and Courtney stroll deep into the forest. They talk about many things together.

DUNCAN: You've never been in the forest your whole life. I gotta protect you.
COURTNEY: I don't need protection. I can fend for myself.
DUNCAN: What if something happens to you like with the hyenas?
Courtney blushes, then attempts to change the topic.

COURTNEY: What happened to your parents?
DUNCAN: They were never identified. I was an abandoned child.

COURTNEY: Have you ever lived with humans?

DUNCAN: Lived on a circus train for some time. Felt bad for the animals. I found this wolf family.

COURTNEY: How did you learn to speak and read and write?

DUNCAN: The ringmaster was kind enough to be my father figure. Now I'm bilingual; human and wolf.

COURTNEY: What do you like to do?
DUNCAN: Sometimes we howl for fun.

COURTNEY: You howl any specific rhythm?

DUNCAN: What? No... that would be singing. I don't understand why humans sing.

COURTNEY: They sing to get their feelings out or just for the heck of it. I'll teach you to sing. I'll sing first, and then you join in.
Courtney bursts into song for Duncan.

COURTNEY:
