"Hiccup? Are you awake?" Hiccup turned over under the covers and looked into Astrid's scared eyes. "Babe, I'm scared.... I know I sound like a baby but I'm really scared!"
Hiccup wrapped his arms around her tightly to keep her warm and to calm her down. "What are you scared of baby?" Astrid burst into tears and turned over to go back to sleep. Hiccup leaned over Astrid's shoulder to look at her, "your shaking, what's wrong, what are you afraid of?" Astrid wiped her tears from her eyes and looked into Hiccup's forest green eyes, "I'm scared of storms, my old village was destroyed by a storm when I was 5, me and my parents were the only ones that survived!" She burst into tears again.
Hiccup kissed her on the cheek.
"Its okay Astrid, we are all scared of something.... I'm scared of losing you."
Astrid turned over again to look at Hiccup, "I'm scared of losing you too!" Hiccup caressed her cheek and twirled his finger around in her hair.
"You may think I'm overo protective but every time your ill or your hurt, I get worried about you because I don't worry and something bad happens to you it would be my fault, and I cannot live with that..." he trailed off in insecure tone.
They embraced in a tight warming hug that calmed Astrid down, Hiccup stayed awake rocking her back and forth until she fell back asleep in his arms.
