12- Bail

Lexi's P.O.V.

I was in the SUV with David, Ben and Max, heading back to Lucas's house.

"I don't know what's wrong with Dad, but he's acting very strange. We never fight and that's all we've been doing lately, hell he won't even listen to anything I'm actually saying."

David put his hand on my leg, comforting me, "Sometimes parents just want what's best for their children, and I'm guessing he doesn't think Lucas is good enough for his little girl."

"He doesn't believe me David, I have never lied to him or my mom for that matter. This is a set up, I know it is. I don't know if the guy harassing me got to my dad, but something is definitely not right here."

"I agree with you, one hundred percent." David said, messaging his forehead. "We will get to the bottom of this. As for your stalker, I have men looking into that but so far we've come up with nothing. When I found out that your ex sent you that doll, it took me two days to track him down. This other guy knows what he's doing and how to cover his tracks."

It was now Sunday, I was in the kitchen with everyone. They were talking about Lucas, but I wasn't saying much. This was all my fault he was in this mess!

My phone started ringing from an unknown number.

"It's an unknown number?"

Kevin walked up to me, "Answer it, we're all right here."

I was shaking, "Hello?"

"Ms. Matthews, this is Detective Morgan." I let out a sigh of relief. "I was wondering if I can take you out for coffee today so I can talk to you privately about Lucas?"

"Why privately?"

"None of this makes any sense, and I honestly think Lucas is innocent here. I figured if I could talk to you about everything without any interruptions, I can go from there."

"Okay, when are you thinking?"

"I can take a break in a little bit. We can go to the coffee shop by your father's office, in an hour?"

"That will be fine, I'll see you then." I said, hanging up the phone.

"Who was that?" Kevin asked.

"Detective Morgan, he wants to meet up and talk about Lucas. He was in the room with me when the other Detective was asking me questions, he was the only one that didn't seem like a complete moron."

Ben stood up, "You're not going alone. You will have a group of us with you."

"I figured as much, and I'm okay with that."

An hour later, we pulled up to the coffee shop. Ben was staying outside with a few other men and Max and Kevin were going inside with me.

Detective Morgan waved me over. "Detective, these boys will be joining us."

"Can I get anyone a coffee?" He asked.

"I'm good, but thank you detective."

"Please call me Jack, Thank you for meeting with me. I talked with Lucas this morning, he is worried about you... but I'm pretty sure these boys will do a good job keeping you safe!"

"How is he? Do you think he'll make bail tomorrow?"

He smiled, "I think so, but with the way this case is going..." he shrugged his shoulders.

"He didn't shoot that man, I'm telling you the truth and I swear to you, John had a gun on him."

"I honestly believe you. That's why I went to the crime scene earlier today to check it out myself. There's a storm drain right below where John was shot. When I pulled on it, it was loose. I went down there in hopes I would find a weapon, but I didn't."
