I've always ranted about the amount of toxic stuff wattpad promotes and when someone texted me that Hayden and Kate are toxic, those words troubled me a lot. I had to read this book like three times. I had to change a few of the upcoming plots too.. honestly, it is taking all my courage to write this chapter but I don't think Hayden and Kate's relationship is toxic. Please point out the reasons if you think so, and I'll change the plot or the entire storyline.

Hayden Evans
The last remnants of warmth faded away, drowning the room in pitch blackness before a silver light from the lamppost from the street cast only light through the basement window. My eyes darted around the room, surveying my prison for any dark silhouette that wasn't a Faerber.
My stomach growled from hunger, my throat begged to be quenched, my skin shivered from the cold flooring, my head throbbed around my skull, my back burned from the welts and my eyes stung with tears.
I was scared. And I had never been scared of darkness before. Was it really the darkness that was making fear sluice through my heart, or was it the lack of light thereof?
My ankles and wrists were shackled, making it painful for me to switch my sitting positions.
Where was Grandpa Henry? Didn't he know his enemies had kidnapped me?
Mum's warnings about Boogeyman had been lies. She had lied to me that if I was with her or Grandpa, or with papa, no one could harm me or kidnap me. But they had. Grandpa Henry's rivals had snatched me from Papa's hands a few nights back and Papa didn't put up a fight like I had seen them do in the movies. Papa hadn't run after the car as they did in the movies. Papa hadn't cried or tried to set me free.
Because Papa was a wanker. An entitled prick and a gormless dog, as Grandpa would address his son.
A dog would be loyal and protective of its kin. Garrick Evans was never faithful to Grandpa Henry, never loyal to mum and never protective of his kids. He wasn't papa anymore. He was a gormless dog.
Maybe this was never about family and more about envy. Garrick Evans couldn't accept the fact that Grandpa Henry chose me as his heir and had already written a statement so I could inherit all his properties.
"You're a responsible lad unlike that gormless dog I'd birthed," he had said, punishing Garrick for never accepting help for his alcohol addiction and losing millions in the gambling. Ever since, the gormless dog had started seeing me as his competition and hated me.
Licking my dry, cracked lips, I stared at the empty bottle of water that had been in my school bag from all those nights. It's the only thing I'd had since being abducted. At this rate, if Grandpa didn't hurry up, I would pass out. I had no strength to sit, let alone search for an escape or take more lashes from Theodore's father.
