When Monday came along, I struggled to keep my eyelids open. The night had been long. Despite constantly reminding myself that I needed to sleep my brain had other plans. It's like the earlier you need to wake up, the more the brain thinks 'What a good night to think about everything that's bothering us.'. As a result, Kyle kept crowing my thoughts. The way we had parted left a sour taste in my mouth.

I hadn't seen him since. I guess I should be happy. I mean he was following the rules I had set. The rules I installed to help us both keep our jobs. Fine. Fine. Mostly mine.

I could still see that skinny model calling him back to his room. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not jealous. It's not like I had grown attached to our little neighbor conversations and midnight chats. It's not like I had replayed the night things got heated between the two of us in his bathroom. No, I was definitely not jealous of the woman he was now bedding.

Fuck! Who am I trying to convince here?

"Long night?" Freedy teased as he fell into step with me once I exited the elevator.

"I wish," I answered. I mean if I wasn't getting any sleep I might as well be getting some right? "What are you doing here?" I asked. Freddy and Kyle both worked on a different floor and only rarely came up to this one since it wasn't the same department.

"I have a meeting with the devil. I'm pretty sure you're the one that scheduled it, love," he chuckled. I bumped his side playfully hiding the sudden blush creeping on my cheek from embarrassment. He was right, I couldn't believe I had forgotten the meeting I planned for him only yesterday. This Kyle thing was getting to my head.

"Good luck with that," I gave him a reassuring smile as he knocked on her door and walk in, giving me a wink before the door closed.

I sat down in my chair, checking what was left on my task list for the day. Luckily, I had taken quite some lead. Sandra's meeting with Freedy was planned for a little more than an hour. Finding a newfound determination, I stood up, made sure my cell phone was connected to the office phone in case she would need me, and then walked away from my desk. I was in desperate need of coffee and I knew exactly where to get it.

Walking into Coffee Addict a few minutes later, I was relieved to see both Marketa and Alisson working. "Hey beautiful," I teased trying to deepen my voice to resemble a man.

Both girls chuckled while shaking their heads.

"That was terrible. Please, never do that again," Alisson mocked.

"You'll scare away the existing customers," Marketa finished, still laughing.

It wasn't that bad. Right?

"Unless her appearance does that before," Alisson added looking at me up and down. I quickly looked down thinking perhaps I had a stain I hadn't noticed. Sandra was very neat-picky about appearance. I didn't need another fashion talk from her.

I didn't see anything out of place and sighed in relief, before looking back up at my two friends.

"Al is right, you look like you haven't slept in days," Marketa agreed with her childhood friend.

I groaned, before sitting down at one of the counter stools. "I need a coffee, and perhaps a listening ear,"

"Coming right up," Keta said busying herself with the coffee while Al made her way to me and settled comfortably in the stool beside me. The shop wasn't busy at this time of the day. Most of the clients present had already been served.

During the short walk to my previous place of employment, I had decided to tell them about Kyle and the delicate situation I was in. If I wanted to get him out of my head I needed to tell someone that would understand.
