—Two Days ago—Meggy ran to the castle with her friends, enjoying a regular Saturday afternoon. SMG4 was out filming, and the Mario brothers were saving the princess once again. It never surprised Meggy that one day, Mario and Luigi would just stop altogether to save Peach. She never even gave gratitude to them.
She stopped at the door and held it open for Tari and Saiko as they walked inside, following shortly after. Tari plopped down on a couch in the foyer and just started to watch T.V. Saiko leaned on the back of the couch, eager to see what she was watching. Meggy decided to go and check it out after grabbing a couple sodas for them to enjoy. Tonight was going to be their girl's night at the castle since no one else would be there except them. Saiko jumped over the back of the couch and sat down, making enough room for Meggy to sit in between them. They tauntingly made the space too small for her, stating that she could easily fit: She's a "smol bean." This angered Meggy a bit, but she just ignored her laughing friends and pushed one aside to sit down.Meggy: Okay, girls. What's on the menu for movies tonight?
Tari: Something dramatic.
Saiko: Horror!
Tari: Oh god please no.
Meggy: What about a dramatic thriller?
Tari: Is it horror?
Meggy: Kind of, but not too much. It more of gets your blood pumping.
Saiko: Eh. It'll have to do.
Meggy picked up the remote and turned on the T.V. and immediately the News flashed on and Meggy saw one word near the bottom of the screen that made her expression drop.
"Splatfest"
Meggy: Uh...
Tari: Why don't we at least check it out? Maybe they had to reschedule this one this year?
Saiko: It's a possibility.
Meggy: Maybe we should just start the movie-
Tari: Come on, Meggy! You love this kind of thing! Why aren't you excited!? It's freaking Splatfest!
Meggy: ...Oh alright. Five minutes only though.
Tari: I am fine with that.
Saiko: If it keeps me on this couch, I'll be fine with it too.
Reporter: The long awaited arrival of Splatfest International has finally arrived, but because of the low count of tickets sold, things aren't looking good for this year's tournament.
Meggy: Huh?
Meggy was now listening with all her attention.
Reporter: If the tournament this year doesn't have enough tickets sold, or competitors, we will have no choice but to end Splatfest for good.
Tari: Excuse me?
Saiko: What the hell?
Reporter: The numbers have been moving, and events all around the globe are becoming outdated and being replaced by new ones. So for this years first ever International Splatfest tournament, located in Shanghai, China, it will also be its last...and the last ever.
Those words rang inside Meggy's head. "The last ever." Over and over, she hears it inside her head like the news was on replay. She felt a voice inside her head suddenly speak, spooking her a bit.
Desti: You better win Splatfest for me, okay?
Meggy: Uh. Uh...E-Excuse me for a minute.
