'What Could've Been'

The band sat in the Molinas' living room, waiting for Julie and Ray to arrive, and hoping that she wouldn't be forced to leave the band. However, with the time Bev and Reggie had spent hanging out with Ray, both alone and together, the two had faith that Ray wouldn't force Julie to quit.

Unlike their own parents, he was supportive; it was one of the reasons they'd hung out with him so often. He was the father figure they never had growing up, the one they'd always wanted. He always tried to make his children feel loved, no matter what their passion.

As they sat in the room with the lights off, Carlos entered the room, holding a tablet at eye level and appearing to be scanning the room, "You can't hide forever ghosties."

They saw a dark figure stop at the doorless frame, "Gotcha!"

Suddenly, the lights switched on, and the dark figure became visible as Tia Victoria, "For the last time, mijo. Ghosts are not real."

"Bull―" Luke put a hand over his sister's mouth.

"Typical adult," Reggie shook his head and turned to his friends as they sat on the couch. "Remember when we were kids, and they never believed what we said?"

"Yeah. I'm pretty sure that was just a 'you' thing. I was always pretty trustworthy," he smiled smugly.

Bev pushed Luke's hand off from her mouth and glared at the older blonde, "Rub it in, why don't you."

His smile only widened and he reclined further back onto the couch, Luke rolled his eyes, "Shouldn't we be more worried about Julie? Her dad just busted her, okay? He's probably making her quit the band."

"Well, there's not much we can do about that now, but . . ." he paused and looked over to where Tia was trying to coax Carlos into believing ghosts were not real, "we can still help Carlos. Adults not believing children ends tonight. Showtime."

He reached into the lamp shade behind him and twisted the knob, the light flickered off, earning Tia and Carlos' attention, "Ghosts aren't real, huh? How do you explain that?"

"Light bulbs burn out all the time," Tia brushed it off, sounding a tad unconvinced.

"Ooh!" Reggie winced. "Wrong answer, tia."

He hopped off the armchair he'd been sitting on and walked over to the window, playing with the blinds, "Explain . . . this."

Beverly snickered and made to get up and help Reggie, but both Alex and Luke pulled her back down by her shoulders, "Boo," she scowled and raised two thumbs, both pointing downwards. "You're no fun."

Tia instinctively reached for Carlos' shoulders, her face paled and she gasped, Carlos watched in awe, "Maybe it's my mom. She knows I haven't been replacing the toilet paper!"
