'Bitter'Now that Julie had left the band, Bev had a lot of free time, which meant she couldn't run from her problems and let them resolve themself as she usually did. What made it worse was that the only person she could blame in this situation was herself.
Sure, it was Luke who wanted revenge but she'd gone along with it because she knew how much his songs meant to him. She didn't blame him, either. If it were her in this situation she would have done the same, maybe worse.
But that was beside the point. She knew they had to make it up to Julie and once their friendship had mended, they could discuss her return to the band. Unfortunately, Luke took a different approach.
As she stared at the incoming clientele into the bar/cafe, she saw Luke writing something out of the corner of her eye, "What are you doing?"
He grabbed her arm and tugged her closer, tapping the pen on the clipboard, "I just got us a gig."
She snickered, "I think you meant 'Phantoms', with a 'Ph'."
He gave her a huff and pushed her aside to fix his spelling mistake. She rolled her eyes and walked over to the table currently occupied by Alex and Reggie.
"He's gone off the deep end."
"Guys, being a ghost definitely has its privileges," Luke fell back into the chair across from her, a smug look on his face. "I just wrote our names on the playlist for tonight."
Alex looked over at Bev and Reggie, "I'm getting a little worried about him. He keeps forgetting that," his words became more stern as he turned to face Luke, "Julie quit the band."
"And that she's gonna come back just as soon as she knows we have a great gig," Luke retorted.
"Or she'll say no and this'll blow up in your face," Bev smiled sarcastically.
"She's coming back," he insisted.
"But if she doesn't come back, let's not forget, we do have somewhere else we can play," he lowered his voice to a dreamy whisper, "and eat pizza."
She rolled her eyes at the mention of the stupid ghost club. It was bad enough that they'd forced her to endure over six torturous hours recounting every single thing that had happened the previous night, forgetting she had only left an hour or so before them.
"Dude, I know. It was awesome to be seen by lifers but we've got this with Julie. We don't need him," just as he finished, they were hit by another one of those jolts, this one stung more than the others.
Alex groaned, "It's the same thing again!"
"Just like yesterday," Luke rubbed his chest.
"It feels like that time I was fixing my amp in the rain," Bev put a hand over his.
