The hustle and frantic whispers and footsteps slowed down once the cold and frigid air of the night greeted me. I huddled in a ball at the bottom of Jerra's pocket, waiting for him to stop moving so I could ask what was going on. The confusion made me feel even smaller, even more vulnerable. It made me scared.
His rushed footsteps were surrounded by others, all of them breathing quickly, softly. I wanted to ask what was going on, why they were running from the police, what had they done? But I wouldn't be heard in the fearful silence. That's all I could gather, that they were scared of being caught.
The footsteps shuffled to a stop, slowly the breathing got more eased.
"Do you see them?" One of them whispered
There was a long pause. "Yes. Coming up to the house."
Another fearful silence.
"Do you think they saw us?"
Ross hesitated again, then I heard footsteps moving away.
"Two of them are coming with flashlights, We better be moving."
I stopped in my shivering.
Will we get caught?
What will happen if we do?
How did I get into this?
We ran, and got caught.
We somehow ended up here.
And meet with Jerra
Can't believe I thought I liked him
You still do...
Shut it. He did something bad, and I-
Just want to go home.
Yes.
So much.
I don't know how this happened.
Neither do I, but we need to stop with the breakdown, now is not the time to be wanting to go home. We don't know why they are on the run, but how many times in history have the good guy been arrested? How many times have the good ones been on the run? Don't jump to conclusions, that's not what we do, listen to what they have to say. You still want to give this guy a friend.
Even though he has several...
Something tells me they all have issues if they're on the run together.
OK.
