Everyone stood there, in complete shock. They couldn't go back. Too far. Nor did they want to.
"Maybe they're not too far", said Alice hopefully, "Let's walk."
No one could think of a better idea, so they walked along the road, just in case the van turned up.
Suddenly, a black car sped past, splashing Jasper with mud. "Hey!", he called angrily. Squeaking, the car pulled to a halt. A toothless man with an evil look popped his head out."Sorry, sir. Please, all of you, take a seat."
Throwing glances at each other, they suspiciously clambered into the car. Luna felt like she had seen this man before. The toothless man didn't wait a second longer. As soon as he door was slammed shut, he zoomed off again, making Timothy groan. The man didn't say a word to the children. In fact, he seemed to have forgotten about them. Luna wanted to kick herself for getting into his car. She didn't know what had gotten into her. After several moments, that seemed like hours, the toothless man picked up what looked like a walkie talkie and he quietly spoke into it. After that, he pulled up to the side of a road and another man clambered in. He had teeth, but his beard and hair were shaggy and long, like he'd been pulled backwards through a bush.
"What are the kids here for?", he asked gruffly.
The man revealed a grin. "They're going to help, if they like it or not."
The car stopped abruptly and as Luna looked outside, she remembered where she had seen this toothless man before. On a wanted poster. They had stopped in front of a bank.***
The kids were roughly pushed out of the car. A third man was waiting for them. The other two quickly spoke to him in a foreign language. Several times they pointed to the children. Suddenly, one of them yelled: "You four!" They slowly edged nearer.
"You four are going to get everyone out of the bank."
"And what if we don't?" Jasper smugly folded his arms in front of his chest.
The toothless man lazily pointed a gun at him.
Jasper threw his hands in the air. "Ok. I've got it."
Alice pulled open the door. "What are we going to do?", she whispered.
Timothy didn't tear away his eyes from Alice. "We run in. Yell about a fire. Hopefully everyone will run out. Alice, you drop our bag. Then, when we're out, we remember", he made quote marks in the air, "the bag. Hopefully someone will run in and find the thieves." Alice, Luna and Jasper nodded in agreement. Fortunately, the bank robbers hadn't heard. "Go on!""Three, Two, One..."
The four of them burst in, yelling "Fire!"
Alice had a look of fake terror on her face as she screamed: "Save yourselves!"
Slowly but surely, the people believed them. Soon, the bank was empty. Alice dropped the bag. She nodded to the rest and they left the bank.***
"There's no fire", said someone loudly. Suddenly, everyone was complaining loudly. All eyes turned to Luna, Alice, Jasper and Timothy.
"Run", squealed Luna. And they did. They had forgotten about the robbers. About their bag. All they wanted was not to be caught. No one bothered to follow them. They seemed to see the whole thing as a joke, planned by some teenagers. But the four Soul Transformers didn't stop running until they were far away. Panting, they stopped.
"I'm hungry", complained Jasper.
"I need some water", gasped Alice.
"We should change our clothes, just in case they're after us", said Luna.
"Is there any chocolate left?", groaned Timothy.
Suddenly, it hit them all at the same time.
"The bag!"
