Chapter 36

Bella's POV

*SKIPPING J JENKS SCENE, SORRY IF THERE WAS ANYONE THAT WANTED IT!*

I sat in the car on my way to pick up Charlie and in that moment I honestly wished I could cry. Alice's vision was clear, Charlie would have a future, but Kate and I wouldn't be apart of it.

I was quiet on the way back to the house. Once we were back in the house Charlie went running to Kate. Kate picked her up, smiling. "How you doing, princess?" Kate looked over at me smiling, I gave a smile back. I really wanted to talk to her but Garrett was literally everywhere.

If anyone was going to die...could it PLEASE be him! Garrett put his arms around Kate's shoulder. I groaned and left, going to the cottage. I had to pack Charlie's bag.

Once I was in Charlie's room I got her bag and gathered money, stuffing it in. I quickly wrote a note, that Leah would read to her and explain when to her to help her understand. I didn't even know Alastair was behind me until he started talking. "It's a romantic notion isn't it? That a righteous feud can defy a great evil, I must admit you err...even had me believing...for a moment...well good luck...you're gonna need it." Alastair quickly left, of course he wasn't going to stick around.

It was now Christmas day and we were all gathered in the main house watching Charlie open her Christmas presents. I was sitting near Rosalie and Emmett, while Kate was sitting with Tanya and Irina, Garrett leaning behind her. Leah was on the floor next to Charlie. Leah handed Charlie a present which she opened excitedly. I went and knelt down next to her. "Hey beautiful, let's see, Leah make this for you? Wanna put it on?" Charlie offered me her arm for me to put the bracelet on for her.

Charlie looked up at me "It's so pretty" I smiled at her. "Yeah it is really pretty" I smiled at Kate who smiled back. This was as much interaction we've had since Garrett showed up.

That night we decided to have a campfire. I was in the tent with Charlie while everyone else was outside telling war stories, getting ready for the battle that might be coming our way.

I handed Charlie a locket with a picture of me and Kate in it, with an inscription in another language. I looked at Charlie. "This means more than my own life, and that's how much I love you" Charlie looked at me confused, I had to continue. "Tomorrow I'm going to need you to stay with Leah, no matter what, even if I tell her that, that she has to take you somewhere." Charlie started to cry, I pulled her into a hug. "Hey...baby it's alright...You'll be safe...always"
