I was sitting on the couch in Alex's motorhome, watching the race on the TV. Roscoe was laying down on the floor while I was curled up on the couch with the weighted white fluffy blanket Alex bought me for my birthday. He thinks I have anxiety, but I don't. I looked back up at the TV and saw that they were throwing out a red flag, because it had started down pouring. Alex needed the track position, but he was in 5th so hopefully that helped him. I tried to focus on his interview, but all I could think about was how perfect he was. Alex was tall, funny, but he was really soft around me. I was such a quiet person when Alex met me back in senior year of high school. We've been best friends ever since and he's been helping me grow out of my quiet shell.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when Finn jumped up on the couch, crawled around so he could lay behind my legs and plopped down with a huff.

"Oof! Finn you're not a puppy anymore!" I laughed. Finn just huffed and looked at the door, waiting for Alex. The door opened and Alex stood there, drenched in water. It dripped down from his perfectly styled hair to his now unzipped fire suit. Finn once again snapped me from my thoughts by thumping his tail on the couch, clearly excited to see Alex, Roscoe got up and sat in front of Alex, wagging his tail like crazy.

"I used to be Finn's favorite." Alex chuckles. "Hey buddy." Alex closes the door and kneels down to pet Roscoe. "I'm gonna go shower before I smell like wet dog." Alex had that earth shattering smile and disappeared into his bedroom, not even bothering to shut his door. I heard the water begin to run and sighed.

"Why did I agree to come with, Finn?" I groaned, petting him. "I can't get him out of my head." Finn and I did have a bond, he wasn't wrong. Finn seemed like he understood me when I talked to him about things. I pulled out my phone and noticed I had been tagged on twitter. "Holy shit! Alex tagged me on twitter!" I realized I said that out loud and waited for a response, but the water was still running.

"I gotta be more careful." I muttered. I read through the message, it was a picture of me and Alex standing in the airport with his arm around my neck and that damn smile. Alex was saying in the tweet how lucky he was to have me at the track this weekend. He tweeted I was his "Goodluck charm." I smiled to myself.

"Sometimes I swear there's something between us, but that's just me overthinking isn't that right, Finn?" I smiled, scratching his ears. "Your daddy's never gonna love me, huh?" I realized the water wasn't running anymore, and my heart was beating loudly in my ears. "Oh no." I whispered. Someone's hand was under my chin and turning my head to the side.

"Ashlyn." Alex said my name like a whisper. He rarely calls me by my full name, but hearing it this time sounded different than any other. I realized Alex's blue-grey eyes were now a dark grey as he was staring at me. "Up." I stood up, almost like I had no control over my own body. I was shaking, wondering what he was thinking. Did he hear me? Would this make things awkward between us if he did? So many questions. Before I knew it, Alex's lips were on mine. I almost fell back onto the couch because I was so shocked. His lips were so soft, and they fit perfectly with mine. But why?

"Alex." I could barely say his name, and I was so weak in my knees. He looked at me like he did something wrong, but it wasn't him. "Why? I....why me?" I looked up at him, and he was now cupping my cheek. His hand was twice the size of my face, I felt safe.

"What do you mean, 'Why you?'" He asks, sitting me down on the couch and sitting on the edge, as Finn hadn't moved.

"Why would you kiss someone like me?"

"Are you having doubts about yourself again?" He asks. This had been a reoccurring thing, but this time was worse. I nodded slowly before letting tears fall. "So this wasn't something I did?" He asks softly.
