I wish I hadn't set up my best friend with an old friend. I couldn't figure out why we never hung out, now I remember. Because she was controlling, and a total bitch. Snobbish, self centered, complete with manipulative behavior. And I set up that woman with my best friend, who I had the biggest crush on. Why did I do it? Because I was drunk. I know what you're thinking, "how the hell do you do that while drunk?" The simplest answer: I don't know. I was hoping he would see how awful she is, and then confess feelings for me. But does it happen that way in real life? Never. So I just have to suck it up and go to Erik's house to take some professional pictures of the two of them, and then just Erik for his instagram.

"Hey Hailey." Erik smiles at me.

"Hey. Hows it goin with your new girl?"

"You want anything to drink?" He's avoiding the topic.

"No, I'm good. About-"

"Yeah, weathers nice today." He says, looking out the giant glass window on the side of his cabin. Oscar came prancing in, carrying one of Amy's purses.

"Come here you stupid rat!" She comes running in heels.

"Hey, chill. Don't talk to my baby like that." I said, kneeling down in front of Oscar and holding out my hand. "Drop it."  I said softly. Oscar dips his head and places it on my hand.

"Good boy!! Good boy!!" I gushed, scratching his ears.

"He is a dirty, filthy, ugly-"

"You really wanna keep going?" I looked up at her. "Don't talk to my baby that way. He doesn't know any better, do you baby boy?" I giggled, handing her purse back to her and petting Oscar like crazy.

"I thought he was Erik's baby. Oh! Honey are you getting rid of him for me?" Amy asks, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"What? No. Oscar's not going anywhere!" Erik looks at Amy like she lost her mind. Which she did.

"Oh, you did not want to word it that way." I chuckled, sitting all the way down on the floor and grabbing my camera.

"What do you mean that rats not going away? What about flu flu?" She squeals.

"Its okay Oscar. You sit?" I said softly, aiming the camera at him as he looked at me with his tongue out.

"Oscar is not a rat! Flu Flu is the rat!"

"Good boy." I smiled, handing him a treat. Lucky Oscar was trained to ignore distractions when he was being told what to do.

"All she ever does is yap!"

"Flu Flu is no rat! I can't believe you would say such a thing!" Amy's voice was getting more and more high pitched, which was hurting mine and Oscar's ears.

"If you don't like that, you're really not gonna like this, -" Oscar howled right as Erik was about to talk. They both stopped talking and looked at both of us.

"Thanks Oscar." I said, thankfully. I wasn't sure if the glass window was about to shatter she was so high pitched. Oscar wags his tail and stands proudly. "Maybe you two could go outside? I don't wanna agitate the dog." I asked, looking directly at Erik, knowing he would listen to me.

"And who do you think you are, ordering us around in our own home?" Amy snarls, walking towards me. I stood up real fast and glared at her.

"Alright, first things first Amy. I did not order you, I asked you. If you don't know the difference, look it up." I said back. Oscar stood against my leg in between us, his ears were back and he was showing his teeth at Amy.

"Go away you ugly disgusting-"

"The only ugly and disgusting thing around here is you."

"Hailey!" Erik barks, and I glared at him. "Knock it off." He growls.

"The hell you mean knock it off? I'm doing you a favor since you can't see how horrible of a person she is!" Amy gasped when I said this. "You are a self centered, snobbish, spoiled little bi-"

"Hailey! I said knock it off." Erik snaps, taking Amy's hand and leading her into another room. A door slammed and it was all silence. Oscar sat down and looked up at me, like he was worried about me.

"You did good, Oscar. I'm proud of you. Good boy." I half smiled. Tears were coming out of my eyes as I slid down the wall and to the floor, where I hugged my knees to my chest. I really pissed off Erik. Never has he snapped so aggressively at me. Oscar sat next to me, laying his head on my shoulder, whimpering. "I don't know why I set him up with her, Oscar. You of all people know how I feel about Erik." I said softly, scratching behind his ears. I wanted to leave, but I also knew I needed to show Erik the pictures I took of his dog, knowing I would probably never see him again. "I really messed up, didn't I? Why did I do that? God I fucking love Erik!" I said, leaning back and my head hit the wall lightly. I turned to my left to see Erik staring at me with his hands in his pockets. I knew he caught me. I knew he heard what I had just said. There was no way out of this, so I stood up and grabbed my camera.

"Here, I'll leave you alone forever." I said, handing him the camera and walking around him to the front door. I was turned around and pinned against the door, and gasped when I felt his lips on mine. Erik brought the rest of his body so it was against mine, then placed his hand on my cheek, and the other on my hip still holding me to the door. Erik pulled away only for a few seconds, enough to take a breather and then he was right back to kissing me. The kiss was soft, slow, and tender. It felt like I had just been to heaven and back. I never wanted this to end, but it did.

"Hailey." He says, pressing his forehead to mine.

"Yeah?"

"I love you." He says, quickly kissing me.

"I love you, Erik." I said softly, kissing him again. Oscar was howling, barking, and wagging his tail really fast.

"Someone's happy." Erik chuckles.

"That makes two of us." I giggled.

"Three." Erik smiles, kissing me with more passion than he did before. Guess some fantasies do come true.
