I had just gotten off of work and it was below freezing outside, and of course, it was night time and it was snowing pretty hard. And I had anxiety when it came to driving at night, let alone in bad weather. If someone else was driving, it wasn't so bad, but if I was driving it was terrible.
"Be careful out there, Ashlyn. Looks pretty nasty out." My boss says, looking out the glass door of the restaurant.
"Thanks Jeff." I said, grabbing my coat and keys, then heading out to my car. It was pretty slippery just walking. I'm pretty sure if I stood still, I could have just slid to my car without even moving a muscle in my body. I made it to my car finally and got into the drivers seat and started my car, letting it warm up inside, then pulled out my phone to call my boyfriend.
"He-Hello?" Johnny cleared his throat.
"Hey, can you talk to me on my way home?" I asked, pulling out of the parking lot.
"Oh, your coming home?" It sounded like he was disappointed.
"Why do you sound sad about it?" I laughed.
"Go! Go! Go! She'll be here any time now."
"I'm going!" I heard a womans voice. I put my hand over my mouth and was almost in tears.
"Where's my thong?!"
"I'll give it to you when I find it. Just go!"
"Johnny. You can keep her there." I said, my voice breaking.
"Ashlyn. Baby-"
"Stop. Just stop."
"I'm so sorry."
"At least pick a time for me to pick up my things?"
"Yeah. Um....Monday morning?" He asks.
"Yeah."
"Ashlyn, I'm so so so sorry."
"Its fine." I said and hung up. A sudden rush of anger washed over me and I was gripping the steering wheel tightly. A semi was right beside me on the left, and the car in front of it slammed on the brakes, the semi swerved and if I didn't move when I did, I would have for sure died. It all happened so fast, my car was backwards, then forwards, then sideways, then it all stopped. I didn't even know I had closed my eyes, and when I opened them I realized I was in the ditch.
My car stopped working, the car door was jammed on both sides with snow. There was no way I was getting out of here. I rested my forehead on the steering wheel, of which I still haven't taken my hands off of. At this point I was so hurt I almost wished I had died.
"I am so stupid!" I groaned. This whole thing with Johnny was exactly like all of my other relationships. I get cheated on, and I have to act like it was okay, when it really wasn't. I didn't have anyone to call for help, so I just sat there, waiting to freeze to death. I sat there with my head on the steering wheel, balling my eyes out just waiting to die.
A knock on my window scared the living shit out of me. I looked to see a guy dressed in a black sweatshirt, jeans, and cowboy boots. He had brown hair, styled into a mullet and facial hair. He smiles at me and waved. He was kinda cute.
"Need any help?" He asks.
"Yeah. I can't get out and the window doesn't move!" I answered. He motioned for me to move into the back seat, and I did. He broke through the window.
"I'll pay for it, I promise. You know how Nascar drivers get out of their cars right?" He asks. Funny, my dad used to watch Nascar.
"Yeah."
"I'm gonna need you to do that if you wanna get out of here. I'll help you." He says. I backed my way awkwardly out of the window, and he did help me, just like he said he would.
"Graceful." He chuckles. I just glared at him.
"Need a ride?" He asks.
"How do I know your not gonna kill me?" I asked.
"I promise I won't kill you."
"Almost wish that damn semi would have killed me." I mumbled as he helped me into his truck.
"Why?" I didn't know he heard me.
"My boyfriend...well ex boyfriend now....cheated on me just before it happened."
"How do you know? Did he tell you?" He asks, pulling off and driving down the road.
"I heard the womans voice, she was looking for her thong." I said, tears were starting to form.
"Don't cry. It just means he wasn't the one." He says, looking at me. I saw a helmet sitting in the back seat. It was blue and Orange, and covered in dirt.
"What's that?" I asked, looking at it, then realized how stupid I sounded.
"A helmet?"
"I realize that. I meant why do you have a dirty helmet sitting in your back seat?"
"I race dirt, and Cup, do you really not know who I am?" He asks, chuckling. "I swear I'm not cocky."
"No? I haven't watched Nascar since my dad died 15 years ago."
"My names Ricky Stenhouse." He says.
"Ashlyn Moore." I smiled softly.
"Its nice to meet you Ashlyn."
"Nice to meet you too Ricky. How did you see me?"
"I was driving back from my race, and saw a car, yours, in the ditch and decided I would investigate in case there was someone in there who needed help." He shrugs.
"I really appreciate it. Thank you for helping me."
"No problem." He says, turning into a gas station.
"I gotta get gas real quick. If you wanna get hot coco or whatever I'll pay for it."
"You don't have to do that."
"Its not everyday you find a pretty girl stuck in her car." He smiles at me. I blushed, and giggled.
"Alright, I'll go get something. You want anything?"
"Whatever you get I'll have." He says. I giggled and went inside with his card, getting two hot coco's and getting back into the car. I checked my phone, seeing a text from Johnny telling me exactly what happened.
"Guys suck." I huffed.
"Not all of us." Ricky says getting into the car.
"It seems like your all the same." I mumbled, fidgeting with my cup.
"What makes you say that?"
"My whole life relationships never seem to work out. No one wants to keep me. What's wrong with me?"
"Nothing. I think you're perfect. You have such pretty blue eyes, a beautiful smile, an adorable giggle, an amazing personality." He says, looking at me. I felt myself blushing, and wanting to kiss Ricky.
"Is it okay if I do something crazy? I know I just met you and everything but...I don't know."
"Yeah." He nods. I leaned over the console, pressing my lips to his. Ricky seemed shocked, but immediately kissed me back, placing his hand on my cheek and bitting my bottom lip. I gladly opened my mouth a little and his tongue sought out mine. He tasted like hot coco, then it was all him. I moaned a little, loving how his tongue caressed mine. He pulls away after a few moments, to catch his breath.
"After that kiss, you have to let me take you home."
"I don't have anywhere else to go." I said against his lips, kissing him again. I knew he could feel that exact same feeling I was. There was so much electricity between us, you could have powered an entire town.
Oh my gosh!! This is sooo cuteeeee!!! I loved writing it and I hope yall liked it!!
