Chapter 10: Crumbling Bridges

Namjoon is the first one out of the car, slamming the door shut as he strides up to the front door, not even sparing his little sister a glance.

Hoseok looks over at Minji, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as he pulls her into a comforting hug and reassures her that everything is going to be okay. "He just needs to cool down right now," he tells her while she nods, feeling numb as she trudges along with him. 

Taehyung's worried gaze doesn't leave his best friend as he walks closely behind, unsure of what to say or how he could offer her some comfort right now. This is all my fault.

Once inside, Namjoon finally turns to her, the disappointment evident on his features as he shakes his head. "What the hell were you thinking? Arrested, for trespassing?! What were you doing there in the first place?" he interrogates, folding his arms as his stern gaze fixes on hers.

"Let's just take it easy, okay?" Hoseok suggests, trying to calm Namjoon down as he notices Minji's breathing start to pick up.

"No, I'm not going to take it easy! She got arrested! What were you doing there?" he asks again while Minji bows her head, tears streaming down her face as she avoids looking at her brother. He's starting to get irritated and Hoseok steps in again, pushing Namjoon back to put some more distance between the two of them.

"Look, why don't you go call Jin and fill him in on what's going on? I'm sure he's losing his mind waiting for your call anyway. Once you cool down, we can come back and talk about this civilly," he recommends, causing Namjoon to release a heavy sigh before nodding, heading towards his room to make the phone call while Hoseok turns his attention back to Minji.

She can feel her chest tightening as her anxiety kicks in, her breathing getting shorter and shorter by the second as she starts gasping for air. Hoseok keeps his voice steady as he reaches for her hands, reminding her to breathe while she continues to struggle to do so.

"Minji, listen to my voice okay? I need you to breathe for me," Hoseok repeats, his voice slightly shaky as he starts to feel a bit scared himself. He had seen her when she has these attacks before, but he had never helped her through one, and seeing her desperately trying to gasp for air alarmed him.

Taehyung was quick to approach her, his arms wrapping around her as she shivers slightly, feeling a bit cold from his close proximity. She could feel a faint sensation brushing against her ear as she heard his familiar deep voice.

"Breath Min, I'm here," he reassures, taking a deep breath as she follows his movements, listening to his voice as he guides her through it, encouraging her to take yet another deep breath while she complies, her breathing syncing with his.

Hoseok relaxes as he notices her breath evening out, letting out a small sigh of relief as she slowly starts to let go of his hands, focusing only on Taehyung's words as he praises her for doing so well. She closes her eyes as she leans back into him slightly, feeling the slight pressure of his presence against her body.

"I'm going to get you some water, okay?" Hoseok offers while she opens her eyes, nodding at him and offering him a grateful smile as he walks away.

"I'm so sorry," Taehyung whispers, his arms still wrapped around her waist as his chin rests on her shoulder, feeling the guilt gnawing at his chest knowing that the only reason why she was in this mess in the first place was because of him.

She wipes her cheeks before stepping away from his hold, turning to face him. She immediately notices the small pout on his lips as he avoids her gaze. "What are you apologizing for?" she questions, a small frown now resting on her lips.
