Madeline had been waiting for this moment for months. After three long months of rest and recovery, she was finally cleared to return to work. It had been a tough time at home, though she had Jay by her side. He was always there for her, but he had his own work and cases to focus on. Madeline didn't want him to sacrifice his time with his colleagues just to stay at home with her, so whenever he was invited out to Molly's with the team, she would insist he go. She wanted him to enjoy some time with his work family, just as much as she appreciated having him at home.
As she stepped into the ER on her first day back, she was greeted with an overwhelming display of love. Colorful balloons floated above the counter, and bouquets of flowers filled the room. The entire team had gathered to welcome her back.
"Welcome back!" they all shouted in unison.
Madeline couldn't help but smile, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Awww... you guys, this is so cute," she said, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill.
Natalie, one of the nurses, rushed over to her and wrapped her in a tight hug. "Don't cry! We're just so happy to have you back and working long shifts with us again," Natalie said with a bright smile.
Madeline's eyes glistened as she hugged Natalie back. "I'm happy to be back here with my family," she replied, feeling truly at home again. The warm, familiar faces of her colleagues made her realize just how much she had missed the hustle and camaraderie of the ER.
As she looked around the room at everyone's faces, she could see how much they all cared for her. The support they had shown during her recovery had meant the world to her, and now, she was ready to dive back into the work she loved.

Madeline's focus shifted as the ambulance pulled in, and Maggie's voice cut through the busy ER floor. "Madeline and Will, you're up. Ambos pulling in with a car crash."
Madeline quickly donned her gloves and nodded, her attention already turning to the task at hand. "How many victims?" she asked, grabbing her bag and heading toward the ambo entrance.
"Driver and passenger," Maggie replied, glancing up from her phone. "Trauma 2."
Madeline and Will moved in sync, heading to the trauma bay as they prepared for what was to come.
As the stretcher rolled in, the female EMT gave them the rundown. "Daria Carson. 29-year-old female, restrained passenger. Driver lost control of the wheel and hit the guardrail."
"GCS 15. Vitals stable. Refused board and collar," the EMT added.
Madeline and Will exchanged a quick look as the patient was brought in. "Where's the driver?" Will asked as he examined the bruises on Daria's face.
"Her husband, Adam. Wouldn't let us check him out," the male EMT replied.
"I'm fine, really more worried about my wife," Adam said, standing by his wife's side, anxiety evident in his voice. "I'm—I'm right here, honey."
