Jay walked down the steps of the station, his attention fixed on his phone. The sudden call of his name caught his attention, and he looked up to see Trudy walking toward him.

"Hey, Jay, before you go," she said, making her way over to her desk.

"Yeah, what's up, Trudy?" Jay asked, following her.

"I've been holding on to mail and notifications for Upton," she began, placing a small pile of papers on her desk. "There's a few subpoenas—nothing I looked into, but there are some must-appear court dates next week."

Jay glanced through the stack, his eyes scanning the documents. "Oh, yeah," he said with a nod. "I'll just cover these till she gets back."

Trudy let out a soft sigh, clearly not convinced. "If she comes back," she said, pulling on her jacket.

Jay paused, a flicker of confusion crossing his face. "What are you talking about?"

"The feds have a really sneaky way of holding onto good people," Trudy said, her voice taking on a knowing tone. "They make them wear nice suits, pay them really well..."

Jay shook his head slightly, still not catching her drift. "Well, Hailey doesn't like suits," he explained with a slight chuckle.

Trudy gave him a pointed look, one eyebrow raised. "Uh-huh, I'm sure she doesn't. You miss her, don't you?"

Jay's smile softened, and he nodded, looking away for a moment as he thought about his partner. "Of course. She's my partner."

Trudy smiled knowingly, her expression softening as well. "Of course," she said, her tone gentle.

Jay placed the last dish in the dishwasher and closed it up. Madeline was in the bedroom, getting ready for bed. He heard her footsteps coming down the hallway. "Babe, are you excited that Will is getting married soon?" she asked, sitting on the bar stool.

"Yeah, I just can't believe he is getting married," Jay said, walking towards her and standing between her legs.

She smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a kiss. The kiss started off slow, then became heated.

Jay picked her up from the bar stool and walked towards his bedroom. He opened the door, walked into his room with their lips locked, kicked the door shut, and pushed her up against it. She parted her lips to allow him to slip in his tongue, their tongues fighting for dominance. He gripped her waist and laid her on the bed.

As Jay laid Madeline on the bed, he broke the kiss, looking into her eyes with a mix of tenderness and desire. Madeline's breath hitched as she gazed back at him, her heart pounding with anticipation.

"You're so beautiful," Jay whispered, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. Madeline smiled softly, her fingers tracing the line of his jaw.

"And you're incredibly handsome," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
