"Mija hurry up. Your promotion is almost gonna start. You know if we get late they won't let us in," my mom said.

"Sorry I was just texting somebody," I said as I struggled putting on the high heels mom bought for me last night.

"Well put your phone down and hurry up," she said.

"Wait, wait," I said as she was about to leave my room," do I need to wear these shoes? I don't think they fit me."

"Mira a tus patas chicitas," she said as she pointed to my feet," those shoes fit your feet perfectly. Now stop complaining. Si me hodes otra ves porque los zapatos no te quedan. I will take you to your promotion bare foot. Now put on the shoes."

As she exited out of my room, I rolled my eyes.

I put the black high heels on and started walking. As I exited out of the house, I immediately fell flat on my bum. Wow mom thanks a lot for making me wear high heels.

My mom came dashing out the door and helped me up.

"Mija are you okay," she asked with a look of concern in her eyes.

"Yeah I'm fine," I said as I brushed some dirt away from my white dress.

"Alright, then come on we got a promotion to go to," she said.

................................................................

As we settled into our seats. The principal of Endeavor College Prep was standing on the stage.

"The Class of 2015 is all gathered here today to say goodbye," she said as she put on her glasses," and to celebrate their final day here at ECP. We will miss all of you, of course, but we hope you come visit us one of these days."

She started walking a little bit closer to the edge of the stage and said," I'm proud of all of you, and your parents must be proud of you as well. You are all leaving and moving on to a place much more challenging."

She paused for a little bit and said," High School. To tell you the truth, High School isn't very easy. You thought eighth grade was hard. Wait until you enter high school. I hope all of you have made the wise decision to go to a good school."

She took off her glasses and continued," Chase your dreams. Don't wait for them to come chasing you. Make those dreams of yours become a reality. Don't let anyone bring you down. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You choose the path you're gonna take. Don't give up."

As she said all of those things everyone stood up from their seats and applauded, including me.

Then they sat back down, while Mrs. Jasso, called the names.

"Jonathan Perez"

"Keiry Reynoso"

"Paola Romero"

"Darlin Mejia"

"Tiara Aviles"

"Please stand up and come to the stage" said Ms. Jasso.

Once we were all up on the stage, Ms. Jasso gave us our diplomas. Then we went off the stage. There were much more names that were called, but I'll spare you from the boring stuff that came later.

Everyone started to exit out of the auditorium and started taking pictures and talking to the teachers. Then out of the corner of my eye, I see Jonathan, and he sweeps me off my feet. He kisses me on the cheek, so my parents won't go all "lion protects cub" on him.

"You wanna go to Six Flags with me and your friends," he says while smiling his cartoony smile.

"Yeah, sure," I say as I start to giggle at his smile.
