 Riley’s POV

The duet section is the next section. I am quite glad that I’m not part of this one so I have a few days to rest before the group section. Kate and James’s first duet is about a girl that is completely afraid of everyone including the boy. She gets her to trust her and then they can work together.

It starts with Kate in the back left corner and James is in the front right. She starts with her arms covering her face whereas James has arms crossed giving off a more confident look. The music is sort of slow. James turns around slowly and takes three massive leaps towards Kate and she has taken three small ones backwards. He stretched an arm out to touch her and she pushes him backwards. He falls on his back and she flips twice to be at the front of the stage.

James is now behind her and he reaches for her left arm and she pulls it forward and away so they are doing the same movement. They repeat this a few times with different body parts and often more than one at once. He spins her around and she flips away. They both move at the same time leaping into the centre of the stage. James lifted his hand and so did Kate. Their fingers touched and Kate started walking forward forcing James back.

Once he was in the corner he stopped moving but Kate kept moving. The pair were almost touch when Kate started tumbling backwards and froze in the centre. James tumbled around in part of a huge circle so he was behind Kate. He pulled her arms out and she unfroze as he held her wrists. She stood up so she was on her tip toes. They both move forward together and he let her wrists go and instead held her waist.

He lifted her slightly and she lifted her legs into the splits and snapped them back together before he put her back down. He released her waist and she gently slipped onto the ground and lay down. James flipped over and her and then sat down and she sat up so their backs were against each other. James leant forward so that Kate was on top off him and then they both went back to sitting normally.

Again they were making the same arm movements but this time Kate wasn’t afraid of him. He spun around so that Kate was sitting in between his legs. He spun her around and they moved closer with their legs in the splits. Grasping each other’s arms they both stood up. James then lifted her up by her waist so she was above him.

He put her down and they both started spinning. The dance speed up and they moved together and it finished with arms around each other and Kate’s leg was up. They both looked really happy with their performance and they won.

Suddenly they were in the final. Their second dance is much better and a lot more polished.  It is about a two trees coming to life. Unlike their previous dance they had costumes. Kate is wearing a brown shirt that is quite short and it floats. She is wearing matching tights and shoes and then a green tank top with red flowers and green ribbons that are attached to her wrists. James is wearing a green shirt with orange flowers brown trousers with brown shoes. He has orange ribbons on his wrists.

The whole idea of the dance is a bit strange and surprisingly James actually came up with the idea and the only reason I know is because I helped choreograph part of it. James will not tell anyone else that he had the idea but Kate told me.

They danced amazingly. You could see their hearts on the stage. The rest of the team stood on the side of the stage as we waited for the results. Kate and James stood together with his arm wrapped around her waist.

‘The winner of the duet section is Kate and James’ the announcer calls.

We are all so happy and we weren’t even dancing. James hugged Kate and she buried her face in his chest. She pulled back and they kissed.
