Chapter 16

 Brent’s POV

 I have to go to Amelia’s dance competition because quote “It is nationals and really important to her and she wants you there.” The only good thing is that I get to miss three days of school as it is Thursday through to Sunday and as it takes four hours to drive there and you have to be there by 12 we wouldn’t have made it if we went to school. As Amelia’s team didn’t get a bus the team is meeting there.

 We arrive around half past eleven which is the time the team arranged. Just as the last person joined us one of the other teams from Amelia’s region walk in together. Lots of guys started whistling at one girl at the front of the team. She was wearing a tight blue tank top and black shorts and I have to admit she looks hot.

 In each region all four semi-finalist qualify for Nationals. Amelia’s team reached the semi-finalist and then lost to eventual runner up Superstar dance academy who lost to Elite Dance Academy which is the team coming in now. The other team, Dance life, were an outside chance to make the semi-finals of our region whereas Elite and Superstar are very competitive her at regionals whereas Amelia’s team are hoping to win a couple of rounds but not do amazingly.

 Each team has a male and female soloist, duet, small group of three or four and then the whole team dance. Each group/person is trying to reach the final by going head to head with another team and the person/group with the highest score out of 100 progresses. The draw is exactly the same for all the sections so Amelia’s team would never meet Elite or Superstar until the final. Amelia is the female soloist and then part of the whole team so she has two sections.

 Both female and male solos are on Thursday, duets are Friday, small group is Saturday and the main event, the main group is Sunday. The winner of each section is announced on their day. They have to have two routines as you have to have a different routine for the semi-finals and final which makes it harder as you have to have two good routines to win. There are seven rounds to win and you have to win all seven to win.

 I watched Superstar Dance come in earlier. They looked so cocky, all in one line and no talking. Elite looks so different. The hot girl is talking to another girl and boy who have their arms around each other. The other six are all talking as well.

 Each soloist gets ten minutes on stage to practise today. I head in with Amelia to watch her. I don’t really pay attention to her routines as I have seen them millions of times. I haven’t seen her perform in costume so it will be really cool. Her first costume is dark blue and black. It has flower patterns with beads and the shirt is chiffon while the top is like a normal leotard.

 The second dress is green with red highlights. The underneath is red and when Amelia spins you can see it as the dress flies out quite wide and it looks really cool when she dances. I have seen her practise small sections wearing this one.

 She joins me to watch the next person. You are allowed to watch the person after and then you have to leave. The person after was the same hot girl from before. Amelia and I sat in silence for a few minutes just watching her.

 ‘She isn’t confident with her body’ Amelia whispered to me.

 ‘How do you know that?’ I asked.

 ‘Notice how all the other female dancers practise in crop tops but she is wearing a tank top’ she said.

 I hadn’t noticed but what she said made sense.

 We sat in silence again. This girl was amazing. She had techniques and her dancing had so much emotion in it. After she finished and jumped off the stage and headed towards us.
