Thomas’s POV
I share a place with three other guys including Brent and we all play football for Florida State. Today is our day off because Florida State qualified for the College Football final yesterday so the four of us have decided to watch Alabama play Ohio State.
“Who do you want to play next week?” Mike asked.
“I think Ohio would be an easier game but I would love to play Luke and Alabama,” I said.
“Have you heard they have another wide receiver?” Brent said.
Alabama are on their fourth or fifth wide receiver this year. They have one original one and the other one has been replaced so many times.
Josh Thomas, Alabama captain and quarterback, is currently being interview.
“So, Josh, what can you tell us about your newest receiver?” the interviewer asked.
“He is number 73 and has a last name of Daniels,” Josh said.
“Where did he come from?” the interviewer asked.
“He is a freshman at another college and friends with someone on the team,” Josh said.
The interviewer was going to ask something else but Josh got called away. He gave a small wave to the camera and jogged away.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one watching the new kid when Alabama first got the ball. The first play was a running play so I didn’t see him at all. The second play Josh was preparing for a throw. The pass went to Daniels and he caught it perfectly. He dodged the first player and got pulled down by the second.
This guy was amazing and I have no idea why he wasn’t already playing college football. The strange thing was that you never saw him take this helmet off. The game wasn’t close. Alabama won 42-7 and the new player was swamped by interviewers but he chose a female one.
“My name is Sarah Walker and I am here talking to new Alabama player,” the interviewer said.
“So first of all can you remove your helmet,” Sarah said.
He reached up and pulled it off. I stared for a second while Brent cursed rather loudly.
“What?” Mike asked.
“That’s Riley,” we both said at the same time.
Mike looked surprised but then gestured for us to be quite so he could listen.
“You are a female,” Sarah said trying to hide her surprise.
“No kidding, going to insult me for it,” Riley snapped defensibly.
“No, sorry. How did Alabama find you?” Sarah asked.
“My boyfriend plays for them. So I would come down and practise with them when I could.”
“Who is your boyfriend?”
“Luke Williams,”
“How long have you been dating?”
“How long have we been dating,” Riley yells of the screen.
“About a year maybe less,” Luke replies.
“About a year,” Riley smirks.
“Are you going to be playing next week?” Sarah asked.
“Please say I am going to be playing next week,” Riley asked Josh.
“Unless a miracle happens then probably,” Josh replied.
