Luke’s POV
I can’t believe that we have finally made the playoffs. This is our last game this year and hopefully we win this game then we can get Riley back on the team for the next team. We have almost a month to convince her that we need her on the team. Thomas is convinced that we don’t need her but most of the team thinks we do.
We are playing some team that I have never heard of before. All I know is the Coach thinks that we are perfectly fine and should be able to beat them if we play the way we have been.
We ran onto the field in front of a roaring crowd. Near the side lines I saw about ten people that I didn’t recognise. The girls were wearing blue dresses and the guys were wearing blue tops and black shorts. I’m guessing that they are the half-time dancers.
‘Those girls are hot’ Michael said when we reached our benches.
‘I know. I wonder if we will get to meet them’ I muttered.
At halftime we were leading 14-7 and headed into the change rooms in a not too bad mood. We had only been in there for about five minutes when one of the water boys came running in.
‘The dancers are amazing. You have to come and see this’ he gasped.
Quickly we all filled out and stood on the edge of the field in the end zone. We couldn’t see them very well but you could see them on the screen. They looked amazing. The way they could lift each other was amazing. One of the girls walked towards the other end zone with a microphone.
‘Do you think I can make it to the other end zone?’ she yelled at the crowd.
The response was loud. Some yes and some no.
She dropped the microphone and took two steps backs. She ran forward and placed her hands on the ground. She flicked over and over. Then she changed and started to flip. The first time was just a single but the closer to us she got the more amazing it looked. It was like she has springs in her feet.
She came to stop in front of us and had her hands in the air. Even with hair pulled right back and the dress I recognised her.
‘Riley?’ I asked surprised.
She had arms raised and she was only balanced on one foot as the other was raised above her head. She still had the same look about her though even though I had never seen her in a dress or skirt before.
‘Hey guys’ she smirked and ran back towards the rest of her group.
‘Is that Riley?’ Brent asked shocked.
‘I can’t believe that she is here and performing’ I said.
When they came off Riley led the whole team over to us. The rest of the team fanned out behind her and Thomas stepped forward.
‘What are you doing here?’ Thomas asked.
‘I am part of the dance troupe so I kind of had to come’ she smiled.
‘I can’t believe that you think that you can come and run this place’
‘The crowd did love me so I think I can’
She led and dance group away and into the crowd.
We won 21-16 but they were really close to scoring again at the end. I noticed that the dance group where now standing off to the side and so where the cheerleaders. I decided to head over and see what they were doing. Thomas and Brent followed me over.
