Raising Ramsey (I)

I woke up, lying in bed on board the legion ship. I sat up and winced in pain. I looked at myself from across the room, I walked over to the mirror and lifted my oversized shirt to uncover my wrapped torso. I got dressed in some jeans, shirt and a jacket. I walked into the bay of the ship to see Winn flying it, he tapped a button and he got up. "Glad to see your awake." He said in a soft tone.

"Yeah me too. What happened exactly?" I asked.

"Well after Mrs. Zor-El saved you from being arrested, you passed out from all the pain you were in and Mrs. Velez and your Dad helped with the burns on your back. Mrs. Velez wrapped it and well before that Gideon sterilized your wounds." He told me.

"Ah." I said as Mrs. Velez was humming a tune to my baby brother.

"Hey, morning... of afternoon-evening? Ah I'll never be able to tell the time up here." She said as my mom came around the corner and asked, "How long until we land?"

"Um. Three hours. Almost there." Winn said.

"I have an Exam tomorrow and I didn't even study yet." Jude said panicking, "Gideon tell me everything about Sitting Bull."

"I'm going to go back and lay down." I said as Mrs. Velez gave me Ramsey.

"I have got to go and freshen up. I'll be back." She said walking away.

"Bu- I guess I got you." I said to Ramsey as he stared at me. "I know, I wouldn't want to be stuck here forever either. I cannot wait until you grow up." He started to smile at me. I walked with him back to the room where he can see the outside. This eyes were hazel with a hint of green, he let out a yawn and started going to sleep. I laid on the outer side of the couch and placed him on the inner side I started to fall asleep. I dreamt of the wedding that Winn and I were having.

About four hours later...

I felt a pair of hands tapping my shoulder, it was Mrs. Velez.

"Come. Let me change you bandages." She said. I looked on the couch and Ramsey wasn't there.

"Where's my brother?" I asked.

"With Winn." She said as I sat up and Winn was feeding him. I walked with Mrs. Velez.

"I can't thank you enough for coming." I said.

"Just when you weren't going to let us come." She said with a smile and I hugged her.

"Thanks Mom." I said.

"You're welcome, now come on." She said as the med bay door opened. I sat on the table and took off the jacket and took my head out of my shirt. "Every time I see these I think, about how much it must've hurt." She pulled the stuck gauze off of a burn. I tensed up in pain and then relaxed.

"I never imagined getting hurt like this, well at least not like this." I said as she squeezed peroxide on them. I tensed up once again, she sighed.

"This one is definitely going to hurt." She said to me as she grabbed a cotton swab, I gripped the metal table.

"How many do I have?" I asked in curiosity.

"One under your shoulder blade, two on your lower back and one in the middle, and its a big one. Last time I did it, you were already out." She said.

"Ok." I said softly. She took the swab and placed ointment on it and rubbed it around the one on my shoulder. I my grip on the desk tightened. I wasn't bad but it stung, she did the two on my lower back which made me tear a little bit. The she did the one in the middle of my back and bent the table, I bit my bottom lip as hard as I could, tears came pouring out of my eyes. I heard a pair of footsteps and they stopped about two steps in front of me. Winn grabbed my hands and I was forced to save my strength, I wrapped my arms around him and placed my head against his chest. He kissed my head, I heard Mrs. Velez sniffle, "I'm sorry it hurt sweetheart, it will be much better sooner. Now lets get you wrapped up." She said grabbing a gauze roll and her and Winn wrapped me.
