We're Not Okay, Not Even Close

Raven awoke in her room, she had a terrible headache and her throat felt dry and coarse. She sat up slowly, with her hand on her head.

Was it all just a nightmare? She asked herself.

Her eyes shifted to her wardrobe across the room, hanging from it was the pirate dress. She stood up and looked in the mirror. Her hair was pure platinum now; all the red and black had been removed. She had black and silver metallic nails; and dark raccoon circles under her eyes from sleeping with all of that makeup.

How did I get back here? She thought about it for a moment; and the memories were making her head hurt worse.

She remembered glimpses of a dark room, with an iron door. Raven started to see Ben, he was on the cold ship floor and was scrambling to yell to her and to break free. Then everything went dark. She felt the pain and icy cold of chains on her wrists. She got glimpses of a girl wearing blood red and black; and she had a disturbingly sweet voice. She remembered seeing Harry. He had put a chain around her neck, but it wasn't painful; it was like jewelry or something. He looked at her with sad eyes, but quickly left the room. Then she remembered Carlos. She was having trouble, it was all a blur.

Carlos was...trying to help me?

Hartley made him kiss her--and I had to watch. I have no idea why she was doing any of this. The whole production made no sense; if all she wanted was a kiss from Carlos. She let us go, and Carlos took me to safety, after I sprinkled him with pixie dust. It's all starting to come back...but, then it goes dark again.

"Oh, my Hades! Ben!" She cried out, in a whisper.

Raven ran out of her room, still in her sleep clothes having grabbed her sneakers. Raven ran down to Mal and Evie's dorm, but they didn't answer. She didn't even think about the awkwardness of going to the boy's dorm, as she was just worried about Ben.

Raven knocked on the door and heard a voice answer:

"Yeah?"

She opened the door and saw Carlos laying in his bed with Dude. Jay wasn't there.

"Carlos? Where's Ben, is he okay? What happened?" She demanded.

"Raven?" The boy asked sleepily, and surprised at the pixie's presence in his room. "You don't remember anything? How are you feeling?"

"Just pieces. I remember sprinkling the pixie dust, but then nothing. I have a headache, but other than that I think I'm okay." She replied, careful to keep her distance.

Wait, he doesn't look good. Is he just tired, from the rescue mission?

"Carlos? Are you feeling alright? You look awful." She commented.

"Thanks." He groaned, sarcastically. "And, yes. Ben's okay. We got him out and the others fought off Uma and her crew, when I was dealing with Hartley."

"Oh, thank Hades!" She sighed. "You really don't look well, Isle Boy."

"Yeah, I'm exhausted. It's been a long day and night. And, please... don't call me that..." He spoke in a soft tone, his eyes carried sadness as they avoided her face.

She stood awkwardly.

"Is there something else you need, Raven?" Carlos blurted out. "Mal and Evie are getting ready for Cotillion, and Jay is somewhere...I don't know."

He was trying to respect her space, she understood, but his words were cold and hurt.

Raven against her better judgement, walked toward him and noticed the sweat on his brow. She placed her palm on his forehead, he felt hot.
