"What? Why would you do that?", Taehyun asked as he sat across from the confused yet remorseful boy.
"I-i dont know...I have to Taehyun", Hueningkai mumbled as he dug his face in his arms, letting thrm fall on the table.
"What do you mean you have to?? You do realize he was only trying to protect you right?", Taehyun raised a brow and released a slightly annoyed tone to which Hueningkai sighed.
"I know he was, I dont blame him for it but..."
"But what??", Taehyun asked curiously
"Its just...mom..", Hueningkai spoke, huffing in annoyance.
"Oh...that...I forgot..what did she say this time?", Taehyun asked
"The same thing she says about you guys...stop hanging out with those toxic boys, they are the reason why you have been questioning your sexuality", Hueningkai completed, groaning because of the slight embarrassment
Taehyun raised his eyes to look at the boy and he didnt utter a single thing, letting guilt take over him.
"I-im sorry if you think the same as y-your mother does", Taehyun spoke, clearing his throat in the awkwardness filling the area around them.
"What?? Do you really think I believe her? Taehyun...", Hueningkai suddenly spoke, almost as if he was mad about the others statement.
Taehyun diverted his gaze from the table only to meet the gaze of a concerned and disappointed male who sighed before he spoke.
"Taehyun... finding you guys is like the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. I trust you even more than i trust my own mother, do you even know what place do you guys have in my heart? A year ago, before i came, I had no one, you know that...dont say something like that ever again...", Hueningkai was probably prattling now. Words werent enough to express the gratitude towards his friends and in particular; Taehyun who had been joint to him by the hip ever since.
"Thank you", Taehyun spoke ever so endearingly as he smiled towards the boy across him.
"Taehyun..do you really think I did the wrong thing?", Hueningkai asked as he fidgeted with his hoodie strings
"Yes, you did. Im positive about that.", Taehyun mentioned, tone suddenly changing from the change of topic.
Hueningkai could do nothing except feel remorseful for his actions. He was yet to appologize but he did think he took things way out of hand. As for Soobin, who was oblivious of the fact that Hueningkais mother was stern and invasive when it came to her sons confidential phases. Not to be stipulative, after whatever happened That Day, Hueningkai swore he could feel a little contented.
Unbeknown to the crowd that was suddenly entering the now packed cafeteria, Hueningkai dug his face in his hand and wanted nothing but moments of silence to be fair. Taehyun, also nonchalant, looked through phone.
For a very prolonged moment, Hueningkai could swear he could feel the unacquaintance in the gathering between them. He rolled his eyes in annoyance as he noticed how his friend suddenly got bored because of the lazy talk and continued scrolling through his phone, eyes focused and lips sealed together
And yet, he sighed again..belittling his thoughts and whilst fighting over the fact whether to smile or frown, he felt two shadows approach near their table.
Soobin....and Jeongin...
Of course, its got to be him, Hueningkai thought very disquietly.
But it was only Jeongin...who was approaching nearer and once he was, Soobin grabbed his arm from going any further and instead, took Jeongin to be seated somewhere else, farther away from Hueningkai.
Hueningkai was left with his chest heavy with guilt, embarrassment and a broken heart that was quite conspicuous; at least to Taehyun it was.
After Mia bid farewell and Taehyun promised to treat her later, he shifted his gaze towards Hueningkai who was dull and busy looking at only two people who seemed quite oblivious of Hueningkais intense gaze.
"Hello??", Taehyun waved a hand in front of Hueningkais face, bringing him back to the saddening reality.
Hueningkai stopped staring and shifted his gaze at Taehyun who raised an eyebrow.
"Whats up with you? Where are you looking?", Taehyun asked, words rankling in Hueningkais ear at the moment.
When he earned no reply from the latter, his eyes trailed at where Hueningkai was previously looking and he slightly rolled his eyes.
"Hueningkai..Its Soobin and Jeongin, isnt it?", Taehyun asked, his way of remark clearly evident with the rasp in his voice.
"W-what are you talking about?", Hueningkai asked, ears ringing, like christmas chimes and his contraction was not very convincing.
He looked back and averted his gaze towards the two males who were laughing, Jeongin holding Soobins lunch box and rankling him by refusing to give it to him and Soobin whining while he smiled.
All this looked like a masquerade; pretence, wilful to make Hueningkai somewhat jealous but it wasnt, and Hueningkai knew that. He knew that the smiles they were sharing was quite mawkish and heart-felt and that stung to the core of his ambivalent heart. His eyes refused to look at what he was seeing right now, Jeongin grinning while he played with Soobins long, well-definied fingers and Soobin just casually looking down on him with a chuckling expression. Not so far from holding hands right?
Hueningkai laughed to himself, but it had no humour. A 'whore' he thought. He tried remaining calm, not wanting to respond to the provocation and he was proud of himself for doing so but him being the witness of all that, made his heart burst with fury, calamity and envy.
Right now, it felt quite impossible to tear his gaze of the two. He looked at the two boys in disbelief. Both tangling their arms around one anothers and feeding each other food.
And once again, anger outburst and sudden shock through his veins, alarmed his brain that he must take involuntary action, but, no...he could never...he has no right to.
Who is he to stop them from what they are doing? Who is he to claim the actions of Soobin? Who is he...to be furious of what he is spectating? Who is he to be...jealous?
And when these thoughts were emerging in his mind, his breathing stopped for a moment when his eyes met Soobins. Those lustful, magical, dreamy, captivating pair of eyes meeting his own in such fathoming way that time seemed to slow down.
Soobin looked. He noticed every action the latter was doing, not bothering to listen to whatever Jeongin was blabbing in front of him. He let his eyes drown in Hueningkais who was doing the same and suddenly, yet very swiftly, every memory of That Day started appearing in his mind. His heart beat increased very immediately and he ignored it by letting another recent incident pass through his mind; which was Hueningkai bailing out on him just two or three hours ago.
Suddenly he peeled his eyes off the younger and rubbed his sweaty palms together. He shouldnt look at him right now, or never. Not after knowing Hueningkai is obviously mad at him right now...
He still didnt know the reason why Hueningkai would suddenly tell Soobin not to protect him again, or even mind his business ever again. Didnt they agree on that before? That Soobin will look after Hueningkai. He felt heart broken, to be real...and saddened by the very straight forward rejection by the younger. I'll just mind my business then.
The thought just increased Soobins curiosity at an exponential rate. He looked back at Hueningkai for a very brief moment before he was quickly interrupted by a loud voice!
"Soobin!!! Oh my god!! Where are you looking!???"
