CATACLYSM
☽☾
"THE RECRUIT"

WAR HAS only ever been what Amara Vell has known. She couldn't recall a single moment of her life that wasn't polluted by the raging fumes of the darkened war around her. The cataclysm holds no sympathy, no remorse. It has stripped thousands of their lives and many more of their homes. But the worst part is, that it will not hesitate to do it again. The galaxy was run by a greedy man who sought out nothing but power. Although Amara didn't know if she could even give the self proclaimed Emperor the title of a man. A monster deemed a better fit for his sadistic ways. Although, even with all of the despair in the galaxy, there are those that turn a blind eye. Those that believe the Empire is exactly what we all need and that the war is a mere child's act. But to Amara Vell, the war was a harsh reality, not a source of entertainment.

As long as there are those that suffer, Amara vows to never stop fighting. Sure, the Empire's army alone had the numbers, resources, and artillery to wipe out the entire Rebellion. But they didn't have the heart, they didn't have the purpose that the Rebels did. And for that reason, the Alliance always seemed to slip by. The Empire is cocky, arrogant, and they underestimate the power of the people. They underestimate the fire that burns within the very soul of the members of the Rebellion and they will continue to underestimate it until it is too late. Then, and only then, will they all burn

There would be a time for the Rebellion to take control of the reigns and restore the order that once was, Amara was sure of it. But for now, they were in a bit of a setback. It was in the early days of the Rebel Alliance, a few years fresh of their first public appearance as a cause. And while it may have been small, it was growing. Slowly but surely more people were opening their eyes to the destruction and horror that the Empire has within every waking moment of it's existence. But even with their slippery skin and fast feet, the Rebellion was still outnumbered. They had limited resources and artillery as well as not even have half the numbers of the Empire's storm trooper army.

Rebellions are built on hope. A hope for a better tomorrow, for a change. People always say hope will guide you through the darkness, that it is what will allow you to persevere through any challenge. But they never do say what to do when hope runs out. They never tell you what else will get you through the dark times. And hope, as glorified as it is, is something that was harder to come across these days. Even the Rebellion was losing it's very own making. But Amara along with what seemed to be like a limited number of people saw the Alliance as more than hope. To her it was a revolution. She would not allow hope's demise to destroy everything she's stood for. She refuses to allow the absence of hope in the galaxy to destroy the only thing pushing for change. Amara refused to believe that so many have died and many more are suffering for nothing. The universe is cruel, but it couldn't possibly be that cruel.
