Honestly I couldn't believe the words Draco Malfoy has just uttered to me.

It seemed like just yesterday we were the two rivals who annoyed the bloody hell out of one another. And now we're, well, almost there; almost lovers.

The wind blew through my hair as I stared into his pale face. I had no idea how to reply to such a question. Of course, I wanted to say yes, a million times yes, but saying yes just sounded so... Boring

"I would love to be your girlfriend, Draco." I smiled, cheeks growing a light rosy color as I examined his features. He breathed a sigh of relief as the words exited my lips- almost like he was afraid I'd reject him.

He used his hands, which were held by mine, to turn me around, completely opposite of him. I couldn't see him anymore. I stared out to the water, not exactly expecting anything to happen.

But a cold, silver chain was placed around my neck. An item, a gift. I looked down at it. It was a cylinder shape, but the side near my face had a small opening, like you were supposed to look through it.

I picked it up with my hands, squinting my eye into the small peep hole. I was bewildered to see the most enchanting thing. A kaleidoscope, right between my hands.

I let it fall back to my chest and then I turned to Draco, who had a grin on his face. "Oh Draco it's beautiful." I remarked, placing my hands around his back. He pulled me into a hug and we stayed like that for many minutes.

I allowed my head to rest between his shoulder and head. It was a beautiful moment. The nervousness I was previously feeling had drifted away into a sense of comfort; Draco.

He held me tightly, like he never wanted to let me go; like I was his final card in a game of poker. But I didn't mind. I liked this side of him, I cherished this side of him; the loving side.

My mind raced through all the memories we had together. Back when we hated one another— when he grasped my hand in the classroom, when we were in the storage closet, even on the train ride when he tossed my bag aside.

But now we're past that- much past that- now we're lovers.

I could never picture myself with anyone other than Draco. Though we're young, and I know love dosen't always last, I felt as though I could spend every waking moment with the boy I was wrapped around.

I could hear Ginny and Hermione frantically yelling from a few yards behind us. I turned and dislodged from the hug, flipping them off as they made kissy faces to the sky.

Ginny ran over to us with a camera, holding it a few feet before us. "Smile!" She exclaimed. I placed my hand on Draco's chest and we both turned toward the camera. A flash beamed from the object, then a photo began inching from the side.

"Lovebirds!" Hermione smiled, standing next to Ginny. She took the photo out and stared at it for a few moments, then turned it around so that Draco and I could see it.

The photo grasped the moment perfectly.

Draco was smiling, surprisingly, and my hand rested on his chest. His hand was placed on my shoulder, and best of all, my necklace was in the photo, as was the scenery behind us.

I grabbed the photo and allowed Draco to stare at it for a few moments, then I placed it safely in the pocket of my pants.

Then, all four of us walked back to the party. Ginny and Hermione were up ahead, making fools of themselves as they laughed- and even snorted- down the hallway.

I walked with Draco, my hand interlaced with his. It was a moment to remember. I still had a smile plastered on my face as we reached the Gryffindor common room.

The day went by quick. We finished up the party then Hermione, Harry, Ginny, Draco, and I all laughed around the fireplace in the common room. It was perfectly perfect.

But then, as all things do, it came to an end. We all got tired and decided to go our separate ways, well, most of us. Hermione and Ginny went back to the girls dormitories, while Harry went back to the boys dormitories.

But Draco and I stayed in the common room. We got a fluffy blanket from the back of one of the couches and spread it out right next to the fireplace. I laid closest to the fire, and Draco laid right beside me.

I picked out a book from the shelf- and of course- it was Romeo and Juliet. Draco flipped through the pages and began reading it to me, his words soft and peaceful.

"For fair without the fair within to hide. That book in many's eyes doth share the glory. That in gold clasps locks in the golden story. So shall you share all that he doth possesses. By having him, making yourself no less."

He read one of my favorite lines with such ease and peace I was surprised he hadn't read it before. My hand rested on his stomach, listening to the rhythmic beating of his heart.

The fire crackling beside us, the book in his hands, his soft words, the beating of his heart. It was beautiful.

I rested my head on his chest, listening as the words streamed from his lips down to me. He read the words poetically, so much so I closed my eyes and pictured the scene he was reading in my head.

Soon enough, I stopped listening completely. I drifted off to sleep, my head on his chest, listening to the beautiful beating of a beautiful heart.
