Wendy POV

The sound is what woke us first, most the town had gathered into the church believing that what was happening was the work of the devil so they thought a place of god would be safe. If only they knew.

The sound that had brought everyone from their makeshift beds to the preachers feet was indescribable, it sounded like screaming, howling, laughter, all at once. And it was coming from everywhere, the walls of the cathedral shook from it. It felt like every creature the god had unleashed had started up all at once.

Everyone in the church shot up, everyone moved into the middle of the large hall huddling into one another, my father pushing around the group to stand between the people and the doors, me and my brothers followed suit till we created a ring around the rest of the town's people.

It was the doors that opened first with a bang, a few in the crowd cried out every head swinging in that direction.

But it wasn't the nightmare monster I had been running thru my head that broke in the door, It was caption Lowsmith. He stood back lit dripping in blood and sweat.

"Lowsmith." My dad breathed rushing to the door with one of the men that was a part of the searches for Dipper on his heels, they helped the police caption into the church while slamming the door shut again behind him.

Before anyone could even ask him a single question, the doors and every window burst inwards all at once. And the nightmares came in from every direction. The air in the room crackled with fear I could hear people crying behind me and hands grabbed to my arms and shirt.

The monster creeped around the room, the howls had died in their lungs giving room to a growl that vibrated the room. My attention was drawn to the doors and the hall that leads directly from it to us, my dad had already taken his place between the door and us once more, he tensed as the monster moved aside for something to walk down the path to us. I had expected it to be the god but instead it was another monster.

The monster was huge compared to the others, it stalked forwards in a crouch like a mad dog. It was a wild mix of different animals that made it look so unnatural in its movements but at the same time it still carried so much power that it shocked fear into everyone in the group, I could feel my own heart pound.

As it came closer to my dad I could see him ground himself and his knuckles go white around the handle of his axe. Enormous wings opened slowly from it's shoulders. The claws on its front feet, that looked like talons, dug into the floor borders as it bent it's back legs. It's thin whip like tail swung back and forth in irritation. It's eyes glanced over the crowd before stopping on me, piercing into my skin.

My dad drew it's attention with the swing of his axe, the monster's beak broke open and it's cry rang out louder than the growls of the monsters around us, swinging back on its hindlegs opening its wings completely leaping up into the air.

People screeched and everyone instinctively came down to the ground, either like me and my brother dropped down into a crotch or had fallen down out of pure shock.

The beast reeled above our heads crashing into the cathedrals walls and ceiling screaming. Even the other monsters around us had backed a few steps off and lowered their bodies close to the ground.

The beast sang down heading straight for us.

I dropped completely, my arms going up to protect my head on instinct. I had dropped into the hands that had grabbed me, everyone becoming one large connected mass of fear in the face of this diving beast.

Pain ripped through my arms, I screamed. I could feel the hands on me try to grip tighter but they had been over power. I felt my whole body be ripped from the ground. I could see the ground of the church fall below low me, my whole body was racked against the gadget glass of a broken window.
