Chapter 29: A New Look

"C'mon, easy now," Jax said, helping carry Jess onto the couch.

She rolled her eyes, "Guys, I'm not dying and my legs aren't broken, I can walk just fine."

Juliette shook her head, "You need to rest now, I'll get you some ice for your face, and I'm gonna call Jade and Jenny." Juliette speed walked into the kitchen.

Jax traced her finger over Jess' now black eye. Jess winced. "Sorry Jess. I shouldn't have let you go by yourself to get the pizza, I could've protected you."

Jess sat up, grabbing her side. "Jax, there's always a chance I could get hurt, no one is going to protect me twenty-four seven." The door opened up, and Jade was carrying a sleeping Jamie on her arm upstairs.

Jenny ran over to Jess, moving her hair out of the way, and opening her mouth wide.

"What did he do to you?" She said, watching her rub her side.

"Jenny, I'm going to be-,"

Jade was running down the stairs, beyond pissed. She squatted near Jess,  "Let me see what happened-," She traced the bruise on Jess' side, hand. She took an ice pack from Juliette and applied it to the skin.

"I'm gonna go teach that kid a lesson," Jade said, hands igniting into flames.

Jenny grabbed her sister's arm. "Jade, you can't go do that, you'd risk exposing our powers to civilians like that, you'll open us up to attacks from villains who's want to get to Dad."

Jade extinguished her hands before slamming down onto the couch. "So why don't we go get costumes and beat this kid up?"

"Jade, that would put S.H.I.E.L.D. in a bad light, teenage vigilante groups already get blamed on the organization. We can't do that either."

"Thats such-," BANG BANG BANG BANG!! Angry knocks came from the door, and Jess took the ice pack off her side and hid it under a pillow.

Amadeus was angry. He slammed his books down, quickly changing his clothes, threw his phone in his pocket and ran out to find Venom.

When he found him, he was in the cafeteria eating a chili dog with everyone. It almost bothered Amadeus how calm everyone was while Jess was hurt but they didn't know, so he couldn't exactly blame them.

"Agent Venom, do you have a baseball bat I can borrow?" He asked, a dark edge decorating his voice.

"You finally taking up sports man?"  He asked, patting Amadeus on the back.

Amadeus gritted his teeth. "Something like that."

Once Flash gave Amadeus the bat in the dorms, he noticed the teen walking on edge, looking like he was gonna explode.

"You okay bro?" Venom asked as Cho put on his suit.

"I will be. I have to go help Jess."

"I thought she went to go visit her family?" Venom asked, watching Amadeus fiddle with his blaster settings.

"She is, something came up."

Jax answered the door, a fuming Amadeus standing there with a red and gold back pack on. Jax was impressed, he got there in nine minutes after the call.

He barged in, "Where is- Jess are you okay?" He noticed her hair was covering half of her face, and she looked like she was trying to smile at him but couldn't help but wince.

"I-im fine, you don't have to worry." She lied, but she couldn't quite look him in the eye.

Amadeus couldn't help but notice she kept darting her eyes to the left when she spoke. He sat down next to her, trying a softer approach. He gently moved the hair off of Jess' face, and his jaw dropped. He gave her a black eye.
