Marleigh's P.O.V.
Today's practice felt amazing. I took out all my anger with all of the tumbling and stunts that we threw. Coach wanted to start prepping us for the homecoming game next week, the biggest game of the year.
I'm sure this week and the beginning of next week there will be tons of homecoming proposals. After the day I've had, I won't be expecting one.
"Hey, can you guys stay with me while I wait for roadside service? I need them to come change my tires and since I have two flats they have to bring me an extra spare." I asked Shannon and Vanessa while we changed in the locker room.
"Of course! We won't let you sit there alone, sis!" Shannon said.
"Let's go." Vanessa smiled and we all linked arms and headed out to the parking lot.
We made our way through the parking lot, and when my car was in sight, a tall, curly haired boy was leaning against it.
"Oh no..." I mumbled.
"Do you wanna ditch? I can give you a ride home." Vanessa offered.
"No... I can't leave my car here." I frowned.
"Buzz off, Noah." Vanessa said as we got closer.
"I just wanna talk to Marleigh, I'm not gonna do anything, I swear." He looked back and forth between Vanessa and Shannon and then his eyes landed on me.
"It's okay," I sighed, "You guys go home, I'll be fine."
"But what about the roadside guy?" Shannon asked.
"I'll... Just wait here... It'll be fine, I promise." I said, but they gave me a look, "I promise, I promise!"
"Okay... Call us." Vanessa said as they started to walk away.
I threw my bag in the backseat of my car and then stood in front of Noah.
"Marleigh, I'm so sorry..." He said, trying to get me to meet his eyes, "I fucked up and I didn't mean to throw you under the bus and dish out that dirt like that, I just... He got under my skin and he was trying to make me look like an idiot and I just wanted to defend you, and—"
"Noah, stop." I didn't want to hear any explanations right now.
"Marleigh, please don't hate me." He blurted out.
"Noah, I just got humiliated in front of the entire school and now everyone is going to think that I'm a slut for cheating on Austin AND for having sex with him in his truck in the school parking lot! Everyone knows my business now and it's all thanks the the big egos of both you and Austin!" I said out of frustration, "I'm so mad at both of you for doing that to me!"
"Marleigh, I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you." He said with sad eyes.
"Noah, how could you possibly think that getting into a fight with Austin would be a good idea?" I sighed and looked to the ground.
Noah caught me off guard by cupping my cheek with his hand, "I can't stand the idea of him hurting you... I can't stand the idea of him talking about you like you're an object, Marleigh... The way he seems to just get off on the attention he gets and he doesn't even care about hurting you... I can't fucking stand it."
I felt like the wind was knocked out of me, but that was quickly ruined when I heard Austin's voice screaming.
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF HER!!!" His voice was followed by loud stomps running towards us in the parking lot.
Austin shoved Noah into my car and me away behind him. I saw Austin launch his arm back, and I jumped in before it got ugly and grabbed his arm before his fist collided with Noah's face.
