Noah's P.O.V.:
"Good evening, everyone! I hope you're all enjoying yourselves tonight," Our principal addressed the crowd in the gym, "It is my honor to be here with you tonight and to be able to announce, for the second time, your homecoming king and queen!"
I looked around the gym to see if I could spot Marleigh, but I didn't see her anywhere. I hope she's here.
"There was a lot of awesome people on the homecoming court this year, but I am so happy to announce that one of our new students has taken a liking to the student body this year and has won homecoming king! Please help me in welcoming Noah Centineo to the stage for his crown!" The principal announced, and I tensed up. I guess that's my cue.
I made my way towards the stage and my classmates were all clapping for me, which made me feel really uncomfortable. I hate this type of attention. They put a stupid crown on my head and a sash around my torso. I hope I don't have to wear this all night.
"Noah, would you like to say anything to your classmates?" The principal handed me the microphone.
"Uh... Sure..." I said, taking the microphone from him, "I guess, thanks for making me feel welcome at a new school that's literally all the way across the country from where I'm originally from. I didn't expect this at all and I'm honestly still really shocked that I was even nominated for this, so, thanks."
I handed the microphone back to him and stood on the stage awkwardly. Like I said, I hate this type of attention.
"And, please help me in welcoming your homecoming queen, Marleigh Morris!!" The principal said with way more excitement than when he introduced me.
The crowd kind of split in half and all of a sudden I saw Marleigh for the first time tonight. She was sitting at one of the tables with a Gatorade bottle in her hand. She looked beautiful, even though she looked like a deer in headlights right now. All I could do was smile as she made her way to the stage. They put her tiara on her small head and the sash around her small frame, it could barely stay on her because she was so small. I worry about her. I wonder if she's eaten today.
"Marleigh, would you like to say anything to your classmates?" The principal said before handing her the microphone.
"Um, sure," She said, awkwardly, "Thanks everyone, for voting for me, I guess... I know there are people that are way more deserving of this tiara than I am, but I appreciate the love you have shown to me... And to my friend, Noah, you are so deserving of that crown. You are a light that this school has been needing for a long time and we are so lucky to have you."
She is so angelic. I can't believe she said that to me in front of everyone, she isn't worried about Austin?
"Thank you both for those special words!" Our principal said, "Now, if I could have everyone clear the floor, our king and queen will share their royal homecoming dance!"
I held out my hand for Marleigh and she smiled up at me and took it, happily. I led her off the stage and onto the middle of the dance floor, "You don't have to dance with me if you don't want to."
"Are you kidding?" She said, "This is all I've wanted to do all night."
I felt my heart flutter a little bit and I couldn't help but smile at her, "You look beautiful."
The song Stuck with U by Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande started playing and Marleigh rested her hands on my shoulders and I wrapped my arms around her waist as we started swaying back and forth together.
"Thank you, you look really nice, too." She smiled back at me, "Are you having a good time with Amora?"
"Uh... Kinda." I said with a bit of a laugh, "I kind of walked off on her after I confronted her about your dress."
