Bombs Go with Wings

Rescue Training pt 2

KAI'S POV

"Dare I say that this was easier than I thought it was going to be?"

We returned the principal to the entrance and saw Deku, Shoto, and the other students waiting.

"You did most of the work, I'm sorry" Shinso looked embarrassed

"Shinso, you spotted the boys and the principal. Your perception skills are way better than mine by far."

"You're just being nice."

"Do you see who I hang out with? Obviously niceness isn't in my nature."

Shinso laughed, "You do hang with a hothead. I don't understand what you see in him but,"

I rolled my eyes, "Hush Shinso. He's not that bad."

"I respectfully disagree. I think you're in a bubble and when it gets popped, it's going to be brutal." He nodded his head

"I'm living in a bubble?" I laughed

"You're a lot of amazing things Kai, but you are also naive. Did you watch the Sports festival?"

"I told you I didn't."

"He's an asshole, the evidence is there."

"He likes competition. He doesn't like to lose." 

I remembered his reaction to me beating him during our last exercise.

Explosions erupted and my head snapped to the training course.

"That's probably him now, being a dick" Shinso muttered

The flames were blue and my heart dropped. Katsuki was still in there.

"That's not him. I have to go."

I ran back into the training arena. I used my wings and flew to the source of the flame. I arrived in the center of blue flames and looked around. If this was Dabi, he used the fire and the shadows to his advantage. Going to an open area was a trap. I used my wings to send a gust of air around me. The fire was gone. I heard footsteps and saw Shinso panting.

"Kai I know we're trying to be heroes and all but can you give me a warning when we decide we are charging into battle? This is dumb. You don't have any of your equipment."

He was right, I didn't. We had to wear our UA uniforms to training today.

"I don't need any of my equipment. I'm fine like this." Was I though?

"Please Kai, lets stick together, I think it was a trap, like the one your boyfriend set off earlier."

"Boyfriend huh?" I recognized the voice as soon as I heard it. Dabi looked at me through hooded eye and shot fire at Shinso.

"Shinso no!" I channeled some stored energy into my hand, making him fly back, away from the clearing.

"You've been here for such a short time, and you've already moved on?" He glared at me, "Good thing I don't feel much of anything anymore, I would've been hurt babygirl."

He sent flames my way and I dodged.

Shinso was already on his way back, "What are you doing here!?"

Dabi smirked and stayed silent.

He knows.

Shinso's quirk was useless. It was all up to me. I launched myself at Dabi and managed to grab him by his throat. I pounded him against the wall and he turned to mud in my hands.

"I know you like it rough sweetheart, but I ask you to be more gentle with me." another Dabi appeared behind me and struck me in my stomach. I gasped for air and I saw Shinso run up to try and fight him. Shinso was too ill prepared in skill compared to Dabi. He couldn't land a blow. I carefully watched Dabi's movements and they didn't match up. They seemed to resemble someone else. I lept into action knocking 'Dabi' down.

Out melted Toga "Hey bestfriend! I missed you so much!" She bucked her hips unstabling me for a moment.

"Jesus," Shinso shielded his eyes, Toga was now naked.

"He let you take his blood?" I asked astonished

"You know Dabi, he's into kinky shit. I introduced him to knife play." She threw one of her knives at me and I moved just in time.

"I was fucking him the whole time Kai. He would never want a weakling like you. I can't wait til he gets here. So he can watch me kill you"

She attacked me again and I dodged. So far Toga was here and twice. Dabi had to be somewhere watching from a distance. He wasn't that strong in close range attacks. He'd most likely make an appearance when I was tired out from twice and Toga.

By my side Shinso was fighting another Dabi. He was able to pick up Shinso and throw him against the brick with an unsettling crack. Now it was 2 on one. Toga stepped back and let Dabi step forward to fight me. I struggled to strike a blow on him. I believed this to be the real Dabi. He caught my fist in his hand, "Don't worry babygirl, it's really me." He made flames out of his hand and burned my fist. I flinched away.

From behind me Shinso groaned. "I present you with a choice my dear." Toga held a knife to Shinso's neck.

"You come with me and help me with a little something? Or you both die." Dabi shrugged, "It's simple."

I ran to Shinso, "Nuh uh" Toga cut Shinso

"Stop, I'll go with you, but let me heal him."

"Wow, you can heal now too? I knew letting you stay here would do you some good." Dabi smirked, "You have 2 minutes"

Toga stepped away and I ran to Shinso. His eyes were glassy. His back was broken. I hadn't healed this type of injury before but I had to try.

"Don't go with them Kai, I'll fight them, you run." He whispered weakly

"Shinso I don't think you can even walk."

"I don't need to walk." he grumbled

I closed my eyes and put my hands on his stomach. I only had 2 minutes. I focused hard to heal Shinso. In a matter of seconds, Shinso was healed. The cut on his neck was gone.

"Isn't she impressive" Shinso said lowly

"I'll say-" As soon as Toga responded, she froze

Shinso's eyes went dark and in horror I watched as Toga took her own knife and stabbed herself in the stomach.

Dabi aimed a ball of fire at Shinso, I spread my wings and took the blow at close range to my back. I screamed in pain and Shinso snapped out of it.

"No!"

Dabi had grabbed me by my hair and dragged me into a spiraling black mist. I was plunged into the unknown.

I landed on the floor of some unknown place. I couldn't feel my wings, my back hurt. I reached for Toga. A boot on the center of my back stopped me from moving.

I cried, "please stop, let me go, I need to get to her."

"Fuck off," I felt a shift and I was free.

I crawled to Toga sobbing. Toga was the closest thing I had to a sister in my life. From day one it had been Dabi and I, but Toga was there too. There were times in fighting where she saved my skin. I didn't like her that much, but I felt obligated to save her. It was my fault the life was being drained out of her. I caught her ankle and focused. I was seeing double because of the pain. I didn't even know if I could save her, I had used most of my energy on Shinso. I had to try. I saw the faint glow from my hand in my blurry vision.

The last thing I heard was Toga gasp and everything faded to black.
