Kai's POV

I ran barefoot on concrete to the unknown. It was better than rotting in a cell somewhere or going back to the underground. There was noway I could go back there. Dabi knew where i lived, and even if he didn't tell the others where, they'd find out too. I had no plan, I just ran. I looked back to see the thin man watching me through the window along with All Might. I heard the pitter patter of someone chasing me.

"Wait!" he was out of breath.

I stopped. This is who they sent to stop me? I turned to face him. For some reason I was interested to see what he had to say. He was one of the group that saved the rat. Bakugo. That's his name. He caught up to me and was breathing heavy. He looked at me with determined eyes.

"I'm not going to stop you, you've made up your mind, but I just wanted to say thank you."

I was taken aback, thanking me? For what?

"I know that Kacchan is a difficult person to deal with, but you helped him escape and me, along with the others are glad you were there."

"Kacchan?" I asked

"Katsuki Bokugo. Him and I" he scratched the back of his neck, "I've known him since we were little, so trust me, I know he's a lot to handle. I'm Izuku Midoriya, or Deku."

"Isn't that mean? Deku?"

"Yea," Deku laughed, "Kacchan gave me that name as kids, I've turned it to my own."

Well that makes sense. Poor guy, he seems sweet. I turned to leave, when he spoke again.

"I heard them talking!"

I sighed, "I thought you weren't going to stop me."

"I'm not, I just want to give you more information." He said more determined than before. "Aizawa wants to sponsor you, and have you attend UA. We're getting dorms, you'd have a place to live, it would be safe, you could make yourself stronger."

He saw my hesitation and continued, "I heard you talking as well. You and the investigator."

"Eavesdropping isn't very hero-like" I said angrily,

"I know, but we just wanted to know what was going to happen to you. Kacchan was worried, he wouldn't tell us, but Kirishima kept asking and made Jiro listen in."

Great, so everyone knew me.

"I know your opinion on heroes, I know you've failed. But train with us. Become something better. See how class 1A can change the future. What do you have to lose?"

I thought about this for a minute. A place to stay, training, a secure vantage point to heroes? It was too good to be true. Could Heroes change? I didn't have the slightest answer to that question. But I do owe it to myself, my parents and to all the other people in the underground suffering to exhaust all possible answers. Maybe this was one.

Emerging out of the hospital doors were the rest of the group that had soared through the air, along with All Might and the thin man. Maybe this was an option for me. Maybe this was a good change in direction in my life. If it didn't work out I could leave right?

Deku looked at me hopeful. I sighed. "I am willing to try."

Deku smiled big and led me to the group of people. The tall man finally introduced himself.

"I am Professor Aizawa. I have volunteered to be your sponsor. Meaning, that I am responsible for you. I know you can take care of yourself, and you have been for a long time, but I encourage you to reach out if you ever do need help.

"AHHH Yes!" All Might chimed in "Heroes know when to fight for themselves, but they also know when to reach out for help."

"I-" I was a little surprised, I hadn't expected these people to go to bat for me, "I don't know what to say,"

"For starters you can say thank you." Bakugo pushed himself through the group, "Get out of my way extras!" He stood in front of me, he had no bandages on him, he seemed unscathed. He looked at me impatiently "You're welcome for saving your stupid ass"

I laughed and matched his tone "and you're welcome for saving yours"

He glared and got in my face further "I don't care if you're still injured, I will destroy you."

I flexed my wings and glared at him, fury rising from the pit of my stomach. "Good thing we're in front of the hospital, you won't have to go too far when I'm done with you."

This angered him more and I saw him clench his fists. The familiar smell of gas filled the air.

Aizawa stepped between us, "Okay that's enough, we just left the hospital, we shouldn't be heading back this soon."

Bakugo still glared at me, as his friend gently pulled him back I heard him mutter, "Jesus Bakugo, you sure know how to pick em"

"Shut up shitty hair." he growled and began walking away.

I laughed. He had so many people who cared about him, he was such an asshole.
