Momento mori

Through the course of two weeks I've made it my sole purpose to deter any and all attempts of training me now I guess this is cheating and unfair but I get bad vibes from the whole family and don't trust them so keep your freinds close and your enemies closer i guess, the bonus was that I could roam around the village and follow or hang around in certain areas in their camp without it being weird, in some cases brad was actually nice and I allowed him to make some progress with me though I did not let him on my back to ride, I would only let him pet me in the least.

At one point I had followed him to his hut during lunch and gave the men inside quite a surprise when I stuck my head in through the door after him, though the hut and the door was smaller them me and couldn't go any farther then that, broughtson managed to push my head out and close the door, I even heard one of their axe welders scream like a woman! And not a woman's war cry either.

It was nearing the end of their stay when something happens that shocked me and was the beginning of the end for Burke.  It was midnight for some reason I couldn't sleep something didn't sit right with me and no it wasn't the pounds of fish I had for dinner. I was on my hill looking out over Burke when I see a figure move fast in the shadows, the figure was bolting from shadow to shadow and staying away from the main paths and the light, normally I wouldn't mind the figure it may just be a villager sneaking away to meet another lover in the night, but the shadow seemed to come from Cheif Khad's hut, decideing to follow I keep my eyes on the figure watching as they run to the docks.

It wasn't untill they were out of my sight when I move swiftly and silently torwards the dock cliffs making my way as quietly as I can to a small outcrop if the cliff settling a ways away from the moveing figure but still within dragon eyesight and hearing, they had just gotten from the steps and a man appears out of the shadow of one of the big boats, I couldn't see the faces of either of them untill they started to speak.

" that stupid dragon my son has is messing with us all, we need to keep it in check so she can come with us to the village, did u find what you were looking for?"

" yes I found the cave where the eggs are, though it wasn't easy, I haven't seen the woman though and I haven't gotten in either"

" good, good, now what do u think we should do? The ceremony is tomorrow,"

" I'll grab the eggs tomorrow, before the ceremony and bring them there, I'll show the mother dragon and make shure she knows that if she doesn't cooperate her kids are dead. I've set traps around the island for outher dragons, there's so many here the villagers haven't even noticed a few have allready gone."

" and what of my husband and family? Your still going to kill my husband and become Cheif after this? I would do anything for you-"

A hiss stops her from talking and another dragon appears from the shadows followed by another.

" it appears we are being watched my love, leave the plan will be in action tomorrow, be prepared."

The man watched as she left the docks hurriedly and then turned his attention to his dragons giveing them a short command that I didn't catch before they took off torwards me. I didn't see where he went as I hurriedly took off toraward the night sky, I had an advantage,  because nighttime was my domain, I shot off like a bulletproof attempting to get at far away from Burke as I can the two dragons behind me. I tried to reason with them many times attempting to tell them to listen to me but nothing worked, they had armor and a bad smell comeing from them not even my dragon mother abilities could get past even when I tried them, i got knocked by their claws a few times but nothing serious, they were mindless and I was terrified.

We flew for miles I would take off in another direction suddenly trying to keep them away from the man and my village. A small island appears ahead along with the sunrise, I land quickly and take cover behind a rock outcropping. Quickly changing into humans form and covering myself in nearby foliage, I hear two thumps and my heart races, my scent as a dragon and a human are similar but different all the same. I clench my hand over my mouth to stifle my heavy breathing as I feel them get closer, I may be a dragon but that doesn't mean I can't die in this form. I can hear my hear in my Ears and my chest like a newborn bashing against its shell  begging to get out.

The steps get closer the thudding I can hear their heavy breathing and I know there close because of the heavy smell of them is closer then before. My heart stops as I see a big clawed paw start to move the bushes, haveing no outher choice I grab a nearby stick and lunge at the being before me hearing a roar before running as fast as I can away from the danger I knew I couldn't outrun them and a scream was torn from my throat as I feel teeth dig into my calf and thigh puncturing it. Falling I see the creature above me a clawed paw is raised and I try to shield as much as I can before it comes down onto my chest, arms and face. I scream again shouting and begging for anyone to help me trying to push or hurt this thing with whatever I can.

My fear courses though me and adrenaline i see the sharp glint of the claws again blood covering it I can't tell what's going on around me because the blood loss or the fear makes me pass out becfore the final blow can be placed only a soft shout and a thud i can hear before I drift off.
