Danger

You were with the Levi squad and Eren, almost no time was wasted after that.

"The 54th scout recon mission has officially begun!" Yells commander Erwin from the front of the us, "all scouts move out!".

With those words we kicked our horses and began our charge into Titan territory, immediately soldiers activated their ODM gear to clear the entrance from any Titans interrupting the charge out side the gate. You knew to stay with your squad and not engage. They had trained you to do this along with all your comrades. Instead of focusing on combat, they had you focus a lot of your time on Commander Erwins strategic formation, you couldn't argue with the results it gave. 80% less fatalities for the entire regiment. Seeing these statistics made it clearer in your head why Erwin was the man to lead the scouts and essentially spearhead the restoration of humanity from the Titans.

After getting out of the main town outside of wall rose, you had finally reached the open landscape where you could feel the wind beating against your face and blowing your hair back. You looked at Eren. His face consumed by that ferocious determination, this time it didn't give you chills seeing it, in actuality it felt good seeing him like this.

"Eyes forward (Y/n)!" It was Ouro again "or do you want to be fodder?!"

Jeez...I can't catch a break around this guy.

"Yes, I'm on it, you should do the same" you smirk at him as he gets increasingly angry which amused you.

This was it, no more games from now on. Even yourself knew that joking around out here would get you killed. Worst case scenario would be that you need to turn into a Titan and expose yourself to your team. Can't have that happening, after what Eren has to do the hassle would be too much. The thought of any of the others finding out terrified you.

SNAP OUT OF IT

(Short time skip)

Sticking to the formation, you and Levi squad along with Eren had been moving safely with little to no Titan encounters. Meaning that Erwins formation is paying off. The worst thing for you right now was worrying about your comrades from the 104th, they were in the most danger. Annie choosing to join the Military police was a smart option.

BANG

Flare after flare. Everyone kept changing direction based on Erwins judgement from the front of the formation, whereas you were in the centre. Makes sense if protecting Eren is their priority. Mostly green flares from the commander and the red flares to mark the sighting of a Titan. Suddenly though, you saw a black flare get fired from the far distance.

An abnormal.

It was a strange thought to know that there were people beneath that smoke, fighting for their lives. But abnormals had to be taken out, that or the whole formation would be severely damaged. You had no other choice but to press on.

(Short time skip)

The more you moved the worse it got, by the minute, more and more black flares were shooting up. It would have already have caught up, but something seemed to have stalled its movement for a bit. Messengers were being sent everywhere to do with the abnormal, something wasn't right.

"Captain, I hate to say it, but what the hell is going on? That Titan should be dealt with by now" you sternly state to Levi who kept a steady face.

"The brass know what they are doing, for now we stay on course" he replies not really bringing you any real answer.

You saw Erens face equally as worried, if a single abnormal had made it through the ranks, then this formation was being destroyed before our very eyes. From how far the abnormal has moved in on the formation, based on the black flares you had seen, you can make a good guess that 6 squads were to have been killed already. Whatever it was, it was heading directly for your current position. Everyone no doubt had the same thoughts, but you couldn't keep your focus on that, keeping Eren under control and proving his worth to the military was your main objective. You refused to let Mikasa down a second time.
