( chapter six )

"I'M ACTUALLY WORRIED of my well being, Cory, because why do I have to come with you everywhere?"

"That doesn't even make sense." Cory whispered at her before he kicked softly the door of the Hunters' trailer. "Shawn. Shawn, it's me— Cory." Valentina kicked the boy's leg, causing him to groan in pain. "And Valentina."

The lights inside the trailer went on and soon Shawn opened the door and met his friends. "Cory, what are you doing here? And Val, did you let Cory argue with you to come here again?"

"Yeah, well, Shawn, the solution isn't always violence. Sometimes you just have to give in and let karma do its revenge on people." Valentina replied to her friend. Cory just stared at her for a couple of seconds before turning to his best friend.

"Well, my best friend's sick, his folks are out of town." Cory commented as he entered the trailer with his hands full as he held shopping bags that carried something Valentina knew nothing about, making Shawn stumble back a bit. The boy then returned to her and smiled at the black-haired girl, extending his hand and it being gladly taken by Valentina who entered the trailer as well.

Now that was sweet, Valentina thought as she took a seat on one of their couches. "I just thought I'd drop by and check on you. And of course Valentina came with me because she's a great friend. Ah, these bags weigh a ton. Thanks for helping me, Valentina! But, you know, I just brought over a few little sundries to tide you through. Uh, cough syrup, aspirin. . ."

"Vaporub?" Shawn asked when he probably saw the small box inside one of the bags, so Valentina walked over to them.

"I told him it was absurd to bring you all this stuff."

"What, you didn't bring me any flowers?" And the black-haired girl couldn't help but scoff when she remembered that Cory had indeed brought him flowers.

"Well, actually, I did. I just didn't know if it was appropriate." The boy explained to his best friend as he held the little white pot with yellow flowers in his hands.
