🧸 ( chapter nine )
"WHY ARE ALL those guys talking to Shawn's girlfriend?" Topanga asked her boyfriend with a frown.
"Ex. She dumped him," Valentina explained to her from behind. Rumors did fly fast.
Topanga looked at her boyfriend. "Well, Shawn and Jennifer broke up this morning. Look at her. She's already on the prowl."
"Well, how's Shawn taking it?"
"Are you kidding? Shawn is Shawn. You can't keep Shawn down. Get up, Shawn." Topanga, Cory, and Valentina stared at the boy sprawled on the ground.
"She dumped me. She dumped me good. . . and I didn't even see it coming." Valentina paced to his side and squatted down to caress his shoulder.
"Look what they done to my boy."
"Look, Shawn, if it's any consolation, I think you can do a lot better than Jennifer Basset." Topanga dropped to her knees beside Valentina, the wavy-haired girl nodding at her friend's words but then grimacing. Could he really?
"You think so?"
"Uh, wait a minute, Topanga. Have you looked at her?" Cory gestured toward Jennifer.
Valentina had to admit Jennifer was beautiful. She was the embodiment of who Valentina would've liked to be instead of herself when she was little.
"Okay, so she's pretty. She's tall. She drives a new red convertible. Oh, heck, I'd go out with her," Topanga turned around to open her locker.
"Yeah, she's pretty hot. I'd go out with her, too. Sorry, honey." Valentina patted Shawn's leg and then she stood next to Topanga, also opening her locker to get out her Biology notebook.
"Val, are you okay?" Topanga's question puzzled her, but she still nodded with a smile.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be, Topanga?" She also took out her Biology book, leaving her notebook and History book in the locker.
