Chapter 8

Declan Costellano

"Nasa Edifice na kayo?" Madiin kong tanong kay Adriel.

"Yeah. At the front. We're just waiting for the go signal. If we'll move, we'll break one of the rules and it will be dangerous." Adriel replied.

"Okay. Stand by. I'm on my way." I said and ended the call.

I massaged my temple because of stress. Damn, I'm enjoying my Aleah's hug when Maurice called me to open this mission.

Superior's squadron attacked the headquarters where some of the craftspersons work there. They are all innocent. They don't kill for peace. They are just giving announcements and receiving notices.

I need to be there so once we get the go signal from the upper line, we can get through the passage immediately. The upper line was holding the authority to give us a go signal to attack and it is included in the rules.

I put my earpiece on my ear and tapped Adriel's name on the tab so I can hear him.

"Damn. I was waiting for you to connect. Where are you?" He asked.

I saw him, with the team.

"Look at your back." I said.

I parked the car and get out immediately. "Go signal?" I asked but he shook his head.

"I'll do the code." I said and walks towards the gate. I entered the code and displayed my wrist in front of the scanner.

I have an invisible tattoo that only eminent have. Aside from the go signal coming from the upper line, we, eminents, have the sovereignty to enter the edifice if you have the le pouvoir tattoo which means power.

"I will kill that motherfvcker. I'm with my baby. Damn!" My teeth gritted.

I heard my team laughed. "Kawawang bata naman pala si boss. Hindi enjoy si commander." Maurice teased me. They are behind me

I showed him my middle finger without looking back.

We walked until we reached the circle hall, there, I saw the Superior sitting on his beloved seat of the state.

"You're here because of what? To open a mission that you'll fail again? What kind of eminent you are? You don't deserve your title." He smirked.

I stayed calm without any emotion in my eyes.

He's good at that. He's using words to attack you and make your knee folds. He uses words to hurt you and I'll not make him do it to me.

Only my baby can hurt me...

But I hope she won't.

"Failed mission? Really? Have you forgotten that the hostages are on my squad? They are safe and we'll make sure that they will be with their family once my plans are accomplished and it will be your downfall." My voice is cold.

He smirked before laughing devilishly.

"How come it will be my downfall, huh?" He said nonchalantly.

I stiffed my neck before speaking.

"The upper line announced that the hostages must stay here but we got them. What I mean is..." I smirked. "You failed your mission." I ended.

I saw his eyes filled with worries. He may be shocked 'cause he thought no one would know since what happened inside the Edifice must stay in Edifice but we have a spy.

I saw him and his squadron packing.

"Oh come on. Don't waste your time trying to escape. The upper line team is waiting outside. You have nothing to do now. You'll be punished and welcome to hell." I smirked before turning my back at him.

Hindi ko maiwasan mainis. I should be with Aleah but hell I still have to go to the mansion to settle things.

"Kita na lang tayo do'n." I said and got in my car.

Before I start driving, my phone rang.

I immediately answered when I saw the name of my beloved.

"Hi, Declan." She greeted.

Argh so soft!

"Hi. How are you? I'm sorry I can't go home now, I still have to do some things but I'll be home once I'm done." I said while smiling.

"Ah no, it's okay. I just called to check up on you. Are you okay? Kamusta 'yung sugat mo?" I can hear her worried about me and it's making me so happy.

"Uhm, okay. I'll be home without any wound anymore." I sounded so sure.

"That's good. Don't make me worry too much." She said and paused. "Uhm, anyway, I'm preparing something for our dinner. I hope you can go home by Seven but if you'll be home late, it's okay, I'll just wait."

Napasuntok ako sa hangin nang marinig ang sinabi niya habang kagat ang aking labi.

Damn my woman, I love you so much!

"I'll be home by Seven, I don't break my promises so that's a promise." I tried not to hide the excitement in my voice to sound cool and manly.

"Is that so? Then promise is a promise, okay?" She paused and continued. "Baba mo na'to, you still have work."

I pouted. "Okay."

"Bye..." She uttered. "And ahm...take care. I'll wait." She said then ended the call.

"Fvck! Fvck! My baby just called me? As in called me? And she's worried? Oh my gosh! She said she'll for me to come home? Really? Oh damn! I am so darn lucky!" I shouted with a smile on face and let out a shaky laugh.

Nasuntok rin ng palad ko ang steering wheel dahil sa tuwa at kilig.

"Fvck you, Declan! You're being a girl again. Hate yourself, dude." Komento ko sa sarili ko.

Napatigil ako sa kasusuntok at pagiging nasaya nang tumawag si Adriel.

"Yow–"

"Puta, Declan! Nasaan ka na! Kanina ka pa namin hinihintay. Napaka lapit lang ng Headquarters, bakit parang pupunta kang Norte?! Bilisan mo mag maneho, gusto ko nang umuwi! Tang'na!" I slowed down the volume because of Adriel's voice.

"Yeah. I'm on my way." I calmly said.

There's no reason to not be calm and happy.

My baby just called me.

I should be grateful and be kind to the animals I'm talking to.

"Pull yourself together. Nag wawala 'yung lolo mo dito." Imporma niya.

I smirked.

"Hayaan mo mag wala 'yang hinayupak na 'yan. Dahil sa kaniya, nabitin ako." I sounded bitter.

"He won't even agree to the deal. He even wants to file a plea. Damn, pinapahirapan niya lang sarili niya. We already told him nothing will happen if he even asks for an open request. Gusto ko na umuwi." I heard his irritation in his voice.

What a poor guy.

And here is me, happy go lucky and with a baby when I come home.

"Malapit na 'ko."

"Okay, you better be." Then the call ended.

Wait for me, Aleah, I'm coming home.
