Darkness started to surround Adeline as she drove to her new home. Her car was starting to make strange noises after four hours of driving. Now, she was at six hours and panic was starting to consume her totally. What if her car breaks. She does not know where she is, two hours ago she entered a dark evergreen forest and fog started to form little after that. She knew she is not very far away from Northon, but this winding road was giving her an unsteady feeling. Little after that she started to see town lights in the distance and Adeline was relieved.
She was still socked that she accepted this job offer. As a young doctor, fresh from med school, Adeline had so much opportunities everywhere she wanted. Maybe if she wasn't running from her past she would of accepted a job offer in New York, but she had to run and save herself from a cruel life she had there. At med school she met this totally bold and crazy girl. Her name is Astrid and she is a serious firecracker. Everywhere she went she stole the show, but the thing was she became Adelines best friend. Adeline never knew how they became friends, they were total opposites. Still their friendship grew every day. Astrid is responsible for her new job and move. Adeline never heard of this little town in the North before she met Astrid and she never in a million years thought she would move to work and live there. But more she listened to Astrids rants about her shitty life in the city and how she could start fresh in Northon, the idea grew along with Adeline. So she accepted the job in a local hospital, Astrid found her a little house beside the woods and next thing she knew she was riding a seven hour drive to Northon, to a new life.
She couldn't wait to stretch her whole body and have a big cup of tea to relax her after this horrible long ride. Astrid said she would wait for her in a little caffe bar in the center of town. As Adeline parked her car she read the sign on the caffe, Fire and Ice Caffe. That had a nice ring to it, everything about this town felt so mysterious yet very interesting and worth investigating. Adeline was brought back from her thoughts and stretching when Astrid crashed her tall body with hers and gave her a big and welcoming hug.
"Oh my God, I missed you sooo much. I never thought you would even consider my offer to come here and even less that you would really come. I am so happy you got here safe. How was your ride? Was the road foggy? I should have warned you about the fog. I always forget such important details. But you came safe and.."
"Breath Astrid, my ride was totally fine. I am here safe and sound and I would really want a big cup of chamomile tea please." Adeline started and stopped Astrids long rant. She always did that. Ranted about stupid and unimportant things. But Adeline knew she did that either when she was happy or drunk. And now she was happy, so that made Adelines heart to warm.
"Yes of course, how stupid of me. Yea, come in. This is the best little bar in town. Caffe by day and a bar at night with best Saturday parties in town. Little bit strange but it works for them, as it does for the people. Come."
Caffe shop was something else. It was very lively in there. Many people looked as they were sitting at home, some looked like they were working and some just chatted with their friends. Astrid found a cozy little spot for two beside the window that had a view of the woods. It was like sitting in living room and Adeline liked it immediately. As they ordered, a group of four men entered the caffe. They were all tall and muscular and they all had tattoos all over heir hands. Adeline noticed that they all had, in different places of arm, a same little tattoo. It was a howling wolf and behind it was a full moon and evergreen trees. Sounds pretty simple but the tattoos were beautiful. They all nodded towards Adeline and Astrid and that caught Adeline totally socked. She was even a little bit ashamed because she thought she got caught gawking.
"Do you know them?" Adeline asked "I mean because they most definitely did not nod to me. The seem pretty intimidating."
Astrid found her questions very amusing. The were in fact intimidating, they were part of her pack, The Silver Shadows pack. This was the only secret Astrid didn't tell her best friend. She was a werewolf, sister of current alpha of her pack. That was why those boys nodded towards her, they were showing their respect. But her friend couldn't know that.
"They are from my neighborhood, I see them here or there on Saturday nights when we go out. They were just saying hi. But enough of chit-chat, I want to know how you survived past few mounts without me in the city. Talk girl!"
And with that being said, Adeline started to talk about her shitty past few mounts but the talk soon started to go in a positive direction and the two best friend started to plan everything they would do now that they are together again.
