The Wisper In The Woods

Third story

There it is. That strange feeling in her stomach. That was the first thing that she felt when she woke up. Her head was pounding as well and there was shouting somewhere near her that wasn't helping with the headache. Astrids voice was the clearest.

"Why the f*** are you still arguing with me. Didn't you understand me the first hundred times when I explained to you why this is going to freak her out too much. You don't understand, she has already been through too much. Why don't you just leave her be. She's just a normal girl. And Marcus, stop talking all that magic nonsense, I would know if my best friend was a witch."

"How could you say that?" Kellam asked with so much pain in his voice. Meanwhile Marcus was just standing between them, completely helpless. 

Adeline was following the voices. There was so many questions on her mind. Was she dreaming the wolf in the woods? How did she get here, wherever here was? In whose bed was she sleeping in, and how can a person sleep in such dull looking room. At last she reached doors that led to another room full of now familiar voices. She didn't understand a thing they were talking about so she just opened the door instead of eavesdropping.

In the moment she stepped in front of the people that were now arguing even more, everybody just stopped and looked at Adeline. 

"Oh, thank god you are awake. I was so worried for you. How are you feeling? I am going to explain everything and I am soo sorry my, not so intelligent brother, made you angry" Astrid was hugging Adeline while apologizing. 

Adeline still looked like she was in a state of shock. She was just looking at them with wide eyes. Her mind was working at the speed of light and she thought she was going to faint once again. She wanted to pretend she didn't her them. But she did, and it seemed as if they knew what her father tried to hide at all costs, her strange powers. 

"What did you mean when you said magic nonsense? And don't lie to me, please Astrid!"

In that moment it was like no one knew what to say. Astrid was now beginning to panic because she didn't knew what to say to her best friend. She herself didn't understand this situation. First her brother being mated with Adeline, now so called magic powers Adeline had, all this in such short period of time. How could she missed that all those years. Was that big connection that she had whit this girl just a instinct to love her future lune?

"Adeline listen, there are thing that need to be cleared. But right now I don't know how to clear them out to you. I don't understand them at this very moment. But something has to be said and I think I am not the right person to talk to you right now" Astrid said that while looking at Kellam that was begging her with his, always so cold, eyes. 

"What are you talking about. What is this. Why would HE explain anything to me. If this is about the thing that happened today I am sure I can explain. Just please explain how I got here and how did you found me in the woods"

"It is on you. Tell her or go with the story we agreed on" Astrid mind linked Kellam while exiting the room with Marcus. 

Adeline was most certainly now having a panic attack. What the f*** is this. Her heart was beating so fast. And what does Kellam have to do with her? Is he going to beat Adeline too for using her powers. No. Adeline you are overthinking she thought to herself. That was her father, it was the past. No one is going to hurt her again.

"I assume you feel very confused but I assure you this is just a big misunderstanding. I found you in the woods. There was an animal near us when I found you. I heard it. Did you see what it was?" Kellam spoke with a calm vice and one again a stone cold expression. 

"Yes. It was a wolf. I thought it was going to attack me. I must of fainted just as I saw him. I don't remember you founding me and bringing me here. How did you even find me?" 

"I know these woods like a palm of my hand. Some people told me they saw a girl walking into the woods while I was looking for you. Astrid was really mad I let you go home by foot so I wanted to see if you were okay"

"Thank you for helping me! I didn't deserve it after storming out of the restaurant. I am sorry" She almost believed him, but there was just something strange about that story. And why didn't  Astrid tell her that. There was that magic thing too. Why isn't her telling her everything?

"You don't have to be sorry. I was just a little too much today. Everything is okay. Astrid just wanted me to apologize and tell you this because it was my fault. So I guess I am the one that should be apologizing. I am sorry for making you uncomfortable."

Kellam was starting to lose it. If he stays one more minute with her so close to him he is going to burst. Why is her scent so intoxicating? How is she making him feel so many thing just by looking at him whit those big brown eyes? 

He wanted to tell her everything. It would be so much easier. And if there was a chance today before he found out she was a witch, he would tell her everything in a heartbeat. But not now. He didn't even tell her the story he made up together with Astrid and Marcus. He just couldn't. He couldn't let her get to him. And another thing he didn't understand was why the Moon goddess was punishing him? How could she mate him with a witch when there was no thing in the world he hated more. Witches killed his parent for goodness sake. Since than he took an oath that he would kill every witch that crosses his path. 

But how could he kill this beautiful creature in front of him. He is feeling such deep emotions just by looking at her. He just has to distance himself from her. Maybe he can continue to live a normal life. This feelings maybe pass with time. He has to do that because the conflict in him is so big he is going to burst.

"Now I am leaving you to my sister. I have a urgent job in town so I have to go." And with that he left.

Adeline was standing alone in the center of an unfamiliar room. She wasn't just alone in the room, she was feeling alone too. 

On top of that, the events of this night were still unsettled. She was being lied to and she was determined to find out the truth.
