Two Surprises

And with that, we pulled up to Stella's Bridal and piled out of the car. We looked at dozens and dozens of dresses for Dani and she tried on what felt like hundreds. She came out in an over one shoulder lacy dress.
"That one's beautiful on you, Dani. But I don't know if it's the perfect dress yet. Let's set that aside as a possible and look a little longer," I commented as Joe began to sigh.

"I agree with you even though the boys have been bored here for the last 10 dresses," Dani giggled.
"Yeah, well, Joe a little more so than Kevin. He's been excited ever since he whispered a surprise for you in my ear," I agreed.
"What? A surprise? What is it?" Dani's eyes widened.
"You know I can't tell you. Kevin swore me to secrecy until he reveals it to you himself," I said as I pretended to zip my lips and throw away the key.
"Aw, Kenz, you're no fun," Dani pouted.

Dani finally resigned herself to having to wait to know the 'secret' and continued her search for the perfect dress. Finally, she found it. A white strapless dress with roses all over the skirt of it. She told the saleswoman that that would be the one and told her to box it up. As she was doing that, Kevin pulled me out of the bridal shop and into the jewelry store next door. See, the 'secret' was that I was going to help him pick out the perfect necklace to go with her dress. We looked through several cases of necklaces before we both agreed on one. It was a duel colored swirling double row diamond heart necklace. While Kevin paid for the necklace, I slipped back over to the bridal store and began to search the veils like I'd been doing it all along. I found one I thought Dani would like and called to her,
"Dani, what do you think of this veil here to go with your dress?"

"Ooh! Kenz, I love it!" Dani said as she stroked the veil. As she told the saleswoman to wrap that up with the dress, Kevin came back and signaled to me that he wanted some time alone with her to give her the necklace. So, I walked over to where Joe was leaning against the front counter, grabbed his arm and dragged him out the front of the store into the mall.

"Whoa, what was that for?" Joe asked me once we stopped.
"Because your brother wants some time alone with his fiancée," I answered.
"Oh, well, if we have to wait for them to be ready to go home, we might as well get a drink while we wait," he insisted.
We walked through the mall window shopping along the way until we made it to Starbucks. He insisted that he'd pay for my drink while I waited outside in the mall for him to come out.

"Here you go. Just what you ordered," Joe finally came out with our drinks.
So, we strolled through the mall until I saw a bracelet in a store window display that matched the necklace that Kevin had given Danielle and I promptly marched in to buy it while Joe waited outside of the store for me. While I was buying it, Kevin texted me:

To: Me
From: Kevin
Hey, Kenzie... We all ready to leave now. Meet us at the car.

"All right, let's go meet Kevin and Dani at the car now," I said to Joe as I walked out of the store.
We ended up beating them to the car and opened the 2 back doors to sit inside and wait for them. I dragged my song notebook out of my bag, flipped to the first blank page and began doodling on the edges.

As I was doing this, out of the corner of my eye I saw Joe wave to someone. I looked up and realized he was waving to Demi Lovato.
