The young hero as usual took to higher ground patrolling the city, Scarlet City.

Releasing an audible deep and tired sigh, Red Dragonfly relaxed his posture and he gazed upon the pretty skyline of Scarlet City.

From his vantage point, it was a sight to see, even though he's seen it a dozen times while soaring in the air. But this was the best view, because it was his home.

However, it had its own mess of thing to deal with...

Supervillains, common criminals and lowlives with a personal grudge against people he knew.

His scrawny legs dangled as he mused on the breathtaking view, before getting a crime notification from Russell. "What's up?"

"Jewelry store heist in progress. Better get there." Russell replied, clicking onto the video feed in his mask. He noticed that Wilbur seemed a little...distracted today.

"Kid...you doing alright? I haven't said anything all day." Russell asked with concern.

"I'm good. Just... got schoolwork on my mind." Wilbur replied bitterly, flying off to the crime in progress.

A couple of nights ago, Wilbur had finally hit it off with Frankie. He should've been happy that they were dating now. But somehow, he was afraid that he could've ruined her life by getting her pregnant. Both of them were eighteen. It was too early for them to have kids. They were still in school. They had their whole lives ahead of them.

But Wilbur put those thoughts aside and focused on what's at hand.

When he got to the jewelry store, he saw that the front entrance was busted open. He stepped inside and nearly tripped over one of the dead bodies of the guards. They all seemed to have been bitten repeatedly in the face with fangs.

"Russell, what the hell happened to this guys?" Wilbur said as he examined the bite marks.

"This place must've been robbed by a really pissed off snake." Russell added.

Wilbur got up and saw that all the glass cases were broken and most of the jewelry was already stolen. "I might have to agree with that theory."

Wilbur explored more of the jewelry store, running into a masked woman with a golden scepter in her hands with a cobra's head at the very tip of it.

The woman smirked, raising up her scepter up to summon her snakes to her beckoning. "Amazing! More prey for my babies!" The snakes hissed as Wilbur backed up slowly. They all slithered towards him as he used his wings to hover in the air. "The name's Velvet Viper! Learn it well for when I become the serpent queen of Scarlet City!"

"Wilbur, get out of there NOW!"

"Great! More one-note villains in this city that I have to take care of!" Wilbur quipped as he flew towards the villainess to intercept her. But suddenly, the snakes on the ground jumped in the air and latched onto Wilbur, wrapping around his body as they tried to drive their sharp fangs into him.

Velvet Viper laughed as Wilbur fell on the ground, squirming to get the snakes off of him. "Don't move too much. You'll only make them angry."

"Kid, get those things off you before they slip into your suit and bite you."

Wilbur activated his buzz blast and shocked all of the snakes off of him, shaking them off as he saw Velvet Viper getting away with a bag of diamonds. He panted, hearing the police coming towards the jewelry store as he dusted the remains of the burnt snakes off this suit.

PHOENIX ACADEMY

Wilbur walked into the study room for the hour, expecting the others to show up shortly. As he unpacked his assignments for the day, Frankie walked into the room and sat across from him. The tension between them was very intense as the two glanced at each other and blushed.
