The whole ride to the crib I kept replaying what my mama told me. If we love each other we can make it work right? But what about the guys man. How was I just gonna up and leave them when we at war?
I know I want this deal but I'm not ready to give up my life here. Chicago is all I know. This is my home. I have all my people's here how can I just up and leave them?
"You coming?" My OG snapped me out of my thoughts as she got out the car. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts I didn't even notice we had finally arrived home.
"I'll be there" I told her. She nodded her head taking a look at me
"Remember Jamir. I don't care about the money. If you don't want to take it then don't. But listen your heart and nobody else. This is your life. You're the only one who's going to live with the outcome of this decision" She said closing the door leaving me alone with my thoughts
I watched her enter the apartment building. I know that I can't have her working her ass off no more. I've been through so much shit almost losing my life in middle of all this. I was tired of making my mama cry and worry. I was tired of barely having food on the table. Tired of having to look over my shoulder every time I walked out the crib.
"What you doing sitting in here?" Lani said scarying my ass. I ain't even see her coming.
"Shit thinking"I shrugged watching Blast and Wooski making their way to the car too
"Why yo ass out here by yo lonely" Wooski asked
"Lacking and shit" Blast said getting in closing the door
"Never lacking" I pulled out my pole showing them then putting it back up
"So what went down that got yo ass looking like someone died?"
"Honestly everything went good. Offered a nigga a 4Mil deal and shit. Only catch is I got a month to move out of the Chi and to some crib in Cali"
"Why can't you get the deal but stay here? Hella other rappers be doing it?" Wooski asked
"Cause they said they ain't tryna have me in harms ways. They know that if they sign me the target on my back is about to get ten times bigger. Everyone's going to try and take me out so they can say they caught a rapping nigga. So getting me out the hood and into the burbs in another state is the way to move" I explained and they all nodded their heads
"Then do it. You got the opportunity of a life time in yo hands bro.Don't let nobody or anything stop you from taking it. Especially not us. We got everything handled on this side. You just chase yo dreams" Wooski said
"I agree with Woo. If you rethinking shit cause of the guys don't. We all understand and will be here whenever yo ass wanna come visit. Just don't go too Hollywood on us" Blast said making me laugh
"Nah I could never leave ya'll. The moment I take off for real I'm moving ya'll asses out there"
"And we'll be waiting nigga"
"So what else is stopping you? Cause they just told you to do it but you still got a look on yo face like some still holding you back" Lani said staring at me
"I don't know what this shit means for Nahla and I. Like we went through hella to get to where we at and now all that's gonna get fucked" I shook my head thinking of everything that could go wrong when I tell her.
"How is it going to get fucked up? Nahla is going to be straight without you Mir. And you know she's not gonna stop you from chasing your dream. So talk to her and let her know what's up and ya'll figure out the next step to ya'll relationship but remember at the end of the day it's your life. Not ours or Nahla's. It's yours so choose what's right for you" Lani squeezed my hand before getting out the car with the guys right behind her.
I took a deep breath letting out pulling out my phone. I unlocked it going to Nahla's name facetiming her. The phone rang a few times before she appeared on the screen.

"Hey"She smiled making me instantly smile back
"What you doing?" I asked her
"I was trying on these brown colored contacts" She said showing me
"They look good on you. But I like yo original eye color" I told her
"Yeah me too. Why you look stressed?" She questioned as she stared at me for a moment " Did everything go well with the record label?"
"Yeah everything went good but before I tell you more about it can you promise me some?" I asked
I saw her demeanor change and she got serious. She put everything away turning her full attention towards me.
"Yeah what is it?"
"Promise me that no matter what happens we always gonna be straight. Me and you"
"Where is all this coming from?" She asked
"Just promise me that we always gonna be good" I pleaded
"I promise Mir that no matter what we're always going to be good" She smiled making me relax a bit "Now tell me what's wrong"
"I got offered the deal and it's a 4Mil deal but the catch is I have less than a month to move to Cali"
"Omg I'm so happy for you babe! I knew you were going to get the deal but why you have to move? and so soon?"
I explained to her everything that the label told me and how me staying here would affect me and my career. She nodded but stayed silent for a minute.
"Say some"
She took a deep breath before speaking
"I know it's going to be hard being away from each other since we never been away for more a week unless you were mad at me"She rolled her eyes making me laugh "But Mir this is your dream. This is what you always wanted to do so who am I to tell you to throw it away? That's selfish and I would never do that to you. So take it. We can try long distance and figure out ways to see each other but take it baby" She sent me another smile letting me know she was behind whatever I decided
