Chapter Twenty Five

Four Months Later

Nahla Reese

"Look at her all happy cause she's about to see her baby" Paris said to Vontae as they both laughed

"Fuck ya'll" I rolled my eyes speeding up

We were on the way to 24's kick back. I ain't wanna go but of course these niggas could never let me be great and let me stay home.

"You frontin like you ain't tryna see Tee's ugly ass" Blast laughed

"Boy you ugly stop talking about my baby" I told him as we made a right.

"Nah let me stop before she kills me in my sleep" He said and I just winked making Paris laugh

"I can't believe your grandparents be going out of town and just be leaving you alone" She said in disbelief

My grandparents were out of town again and brothers were gone with their friends.So Blast was staying with me since his parents kicked him out at the same time Polo was kicked out before he got locked up. So I told him to stay with me since he ain't have nowhere to stay

I knew that Mir was kicked out because his mama and grandma got tired of him being in and out of jail and not listening to them so they told him to get out since he wanted to act like a grown ass man.

"It's been that way since I started staying with them. They basically told us that they love us to death but we weren't gonna stop them from living their lives. I mean I don't really mind it since I don't get along with anybody from my family" I shrugged

My family wasn't necessarily big fans of my parents because of their age difference and they didn't like that my mother was mixed with Mexican and not fully black. My mom was 16 and my dad was 24. They also didn't like the fact that my dad got together with my mom a few months after Dre's mom passed away. They felt like it was disrespectful that he didn't mourn her death but from what my dad told us. Him and Dre's mom we're already having problems and he was only with her because my grandparents made him for my brother's sake.

Dre was 1 when his mom overdosed but my mom took no time in treating him like her own although she was 15 going on 16 when it all happened. She wasn't even dating my dad at the time. They were talking and then when they got together when she turned 16 she was pregnant with Tez. When they told everyone they were expecting together everyone on both sides basically disowned them. The only ones who accepted them were my dad's parents who are the ones who took us in.

"For real yo life really sad G" Blast shook his head pulling me into a hug

"Don't feel bad or anything. Shit Tez the only family in the world I need. All them other bitches gonna be begging for money once I make it out the hood" I smiled reaching 24's crib.

I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.

"Aye my people" 24 answered the door pulling me into a hug

"Yo ass already gone off some" I laughed hugging him back before going to say hey to everyone else

"Wassup Reese's pieces" Wooski said hugging me

"Y'all irritating me with this damn nickname"

"Shut up You know you like it" He laughed taking another hit off the blunt

I said hey to Leek before going back to 24 to ask him where I could charge my phone at because my phone was dying and Mir was gonna call me in 30 minutes.

"Aye where can I charge my phone at?"

"Over there by yo man" he pointed to where Tee was at

"Aw my baby" I smiled making my way over to him taking a seat on his lap

"Thought you wasn't gonna say hey to me" he pouted and I gave him a kiss

"Sorry I just had to see where I could plug my phone up first" I told him as I pulled my charger out of my pocket plugging it up to the wall.

These past 4 months have been hell without Mir to bug me and take naps with me. It's like you really don't know how attach you are to someone until you can't be with them.

Like how can I got 4 years without him by my side when I've had him here for 10 years?

Everyone's telling me that it's going to be okay and this and that but it's like of course y'all gonna say that when it doesn't affect you like it does me.

That man is my diary, my right hand, my shoulder to cry on and my protector. Aside from Tez. Like I literally spend all my time with him and if I'm not with him I'm either on the phone or texting him unless we're mad at each other. But even then he's getting people to make sure I'm good.

"I missed you" Terrance kissed my neck snapping me out of my thoughts

"You did? Then why you ain't call me all day" I raised my eyebrow

"Wow so you just gonna forget yo nigga was at work? I literally came straight here after work and they told me you was sliding so I figured I just Wait to see you in person" He smiled

He had gotten a job working at a grocery store so when he wasn't with me he was at work but he always called once he was off

"Mhm you better have came straight here" I told him as my phone started ringing

I quickly answered pressing one

"Nahla?" Mir's voice came through the phone making me smile.

"I'll be back"I whispered to Tee as I got up from his lap heading to a quiet room "Yeah I'm here"

"What you doing best friend?" He asked

"At 24's house. He's having a kick back and Vontae forced me out the house" I told him

"You cool with 24 now? Thought you ain't like him" he laughed

"Eh he's grown on me " I said laughing too

"How was your day? You been eating?" He asked making me frown

Lately I haven't had an appetite so I skipped out on eating sometimes.

"Of course I'm eating"

"You know better than to lie to me"

"I don't get hungry so I'm not about to eat if I ain't hungry"

"You must want me to beat yo ass next time you come see me"

"You ain't gonna touch me"

"Yeah Ight but what else is new?" He asked

"Oh I've been applying to jobs! I'm hoping I get a job at foot locker or Nike or some because you know I love shoes" I told him

"Aw Shit you gonna be big balling huh"

"I got to be! I'm tired of waiting for someone to give me money so I'll just get my own" I said as the lady came on telling us we only a minute left "they annoying"

"Tell me about it but I love you! And you better eat! I'll call you tomorrow at the same time"

"I love you too Mir" I said as the call ended

I sighed putting my phone back In my pocket. I hated I couldn't talk longer. These 15 minute phone calls weren't cutting it for me. I got up from the bed I was sitting on walking out the room heading back to the living room.

Walking out I seen the boys loading their glocks up

"Where y'all going?" I asked confused cause this was suppose to be a party not no damn shoot out

"The niggas who shot at y'all finally came out of hiding. We gonna murk then" Blast said putting his Glock on in his waistband

"Hold Im cause I'm going too"
