After about half an hour of driving, we reached a building with a huge fence around it. I couldn't tell what the building was for because there was no signs that said. Next to me, June looked up at the building. "Home sweet home", she said. When we got nearer to the gate, it opened. I wasn't exactly sure who opened it or how, but I wasn't really paying much attention, anyways.
My eyes were fixed on Hope. She was looking out the window, too. Awww how adorable, I thought. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the structure. Maybe it was the possibility that food was here. I was starving, so that prospect sounded really good. What I wouldn't give for a homemade pie. I sighed, how funny that I used to take everything for granted.
Tom parked the SUV and we all opened our doors. I reached in and grabbed Hope, then shut my door. "June, do me a favor and show Lita around", said Tom. He smiled at me. June looks my way and grins, "No problem, follow me". I smile too and it feels good to actually get to. I'm suprised I don't permanently have a frown on my face. The fact that something good has happened makes me want to smile forever.
June leads me around the side of the building to a little area with chairs and tables. "This is where we eat. Sometimes, but not all the time. I bet your starving, huh?" If she only knew. "Yep, you hit the nail on the head," I say.
