Annabeth ran over to Leo. He was panting hard, barely able to stand. She took a look at Rory and her stomach dropped. Her clothes were badly burnt, soot covered most if her face, and she was barely breathing.
"What happened? Leo, what happened?" Annabeth felt fear surge through her. It felt weird, to be so worried about someone she had only known and spoken to a couple of times. "I don't know! I went to work on...the thing...and she was on the floor!" he shouted. Will and a few other Apollo kids had come over. They took her into there arms and the small group walked to the infirmary.
Will started checking for wounds and anything that could be the cause of her accident. After finding nothing, he checked her burns. None of them were serious but he could tell she had inhaled a lot of smoke. The Apollo healers stood around her and started channelling the magic. After a few minutes, when their energy was starting to dip, her breathing evened out and the burns started to heal.
Everything was sore. Her lungs were burning and so were her arms and legs. Her ears were ringing. Every muscle ached. She couldn't open her eyes. She could hear though. She heard Leo come into the bunker. She heard Annabeth asking what had happened. She wanted to say something. She wanted to scream that she was there. But she couldn't. So she layed in silent agony as the Apolo campers checked her over. And so she stayed like that until she was swallowed by an all consuming darkness, wondering if she would ever wake up and see the light again.
Outside the infirmary, Annabeth sat waiting anxiously. Reyna and Thalia had come with her to make sure she was ok. Unfortunately for her, Percy and Jason had also come to see what had happened. Due to the current setting and situation, Thalia had refrained from attacking them both, and instead settled for dark, angry glares.
Annabeth kept trying to figure out what had caused the accident, and the only explanation she could come up with were the Stoll's batteries.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Percy walked over. He seemed nervous. "How have you been?" he asked quietly.
"Not as good as I could be, but not too bad either," she replied in an even tone. Reyna and Thalia watched the interaction, waiting for one of them to snap. Percy nodded and walked back to his seat next to Jason.
"Are you really alright?" Thalia asked. It was rather uncommon to see Thalia like that, walls down, sarcasm gone. Annabeth smiled reassuringly and nodded. Thalia nodded and returned to cuddling her girlfriend. It wasn't long before Annabeth fell asleep, and the nightmares began.

In her dream, Annabeth was running through Camp Half-blood. The sky was crimson red and the forest was on fire. She could feel smoke filling her lungs. From across the field she saw Rory. She was running away from a large creature, no weapon in sight. Annabeth tried to run to her but was picked up by something else. She could feel the air being squeezed from her lungs. "You won't get away that easily," a voice hissed from above her. Her vision went black and her lungs burned.

Annabeth woke up to Thalia shaking her arm. "Sorry, just a nightmare," she mumbled. Thalia nodded in understanding. Her mind drifted back to the dream, and she wondered what it could mean. She hoped that it was just a blink and she told herself that the war was over, and that it had been for a year and a half. She pondered it for a while until Will came out.
