Arguments with the people closest to you are what hurt the most. Especially when it's over something stupid. Weather we realize it or not, it's being angry at them that's what hurts us.However, not a lot of people find it easy to admit that they were wrong in saying or doing something, no matter how hard they're just making their own life. But, that's the thing about friends, family, and partners: we'll always love them.
It's been a week since the baking competition, a week since Richie and (Y/n) have spoken, and a week since those harsh words were thrown around so carelessly. The group had never seen this happen before, especially this bad. Sure, they had their arguments, but usually they were friends again the next day or so.
While they still attended hangouts together, they wouldn't talk and (Y/n) usually took it upon herself to glare at Richie, who was equally upset. Both of them looked restless.
At school, (Y/n) didn't talk to anyone but Beverly. Not Caiden or the people she usually at least smiled at in the halls. People asked her all day if she and Caiden broke up, to which she simply shook her head and said, "Just having a long day, is all." And nobody questioned it, but they still adored her strength.
"What even happened? She seems so.. broken." Stan questioned.
"She and I went for a walk and I said something stupid and I really regret it." Richie hung his head shamefully.
"What could you have possibly said to her to make such a strong girl do... this?"
"She said that I wasn't myself around Jen and it upset me so I told her that Caiden was using her." The curly headed bog spoke quietly.
Stan's eyes widened. "You can't say that stuff, man! (Y/n) cares about other people so much. You can't tell her this stuff in such a harsh way!" Eddie spoke.
"I know! I know.."As the days went on, (Y/n) continued to ignore Richie. If she saw him, she made it her top priority to avoid him. He took notice to this rather quickly and tried to stay out of her way.
Each missed the other dearly. (Y/n) looked through all of the videos and pictures they had together. All of the memories flooded back and a wave of emotion hit (Y/n) all at once, causing them to spill from her eyes.
Richie, on the other hand, had stopped caring for himself. He was a mess, to be honest. He was more quiet than usual and he wanted nothing more than to apologize to the poor girl he'd upset so badly with his stupid words.
Sometimes we all wish we could go back and erase certain moments from ever happening. But, we're humans and we haven't figured out how to do that yet. The best advice (Y/n) would receive in her teenage years would be, "Sometimes people mess up, and I know it hurts Kiddo but you can't be mad forever." And her dad was right.
Nobody wants to forgive someone for saying something like that. They were both wrong, (Y/n) for meddling into Richie business even if she was worried for him, and Richie for saying something he knew would upset her because she went about it all wrong.
(Y/n) wanted to call Richie several times. Every time she went ice skating with Beverly, every time she found one of his favorite songs playing in the town. Stan too. All she wanted to do was have everything go back to normal, but it was difficult to stop holding a grudge against him after he said that.
But it was the truth. He was using her for her body. It was plain as day to see that she was more into him than she was her. It's not something she wanted to hear from Richie though.
Richie and Stan were two of her favorite people to be around, and it really hurt to think that Richie would use something so personal just to get back at her. And for what? Being worried? All (Y/n) wanted to do was make sure he was ok.
While (Y/n) was angrily scribbling over her stock figure drawing of Richie to Lana Del Ray, she heard a pebble hit her window. "Doors unlocked. Just come up." She yelled out her window, not checking to see who it was based off of the natural assumption that it's Beverly.
As the footsteps approached her door, (Y/n) sighed and laid on her bed, facing the wall. "Bevvy, I miss him. It's really hard to not be able to just call him and tell him to come hang out with me. And I know I have you, and I love you, but he and Stan were also my best friends. You know? It's like I'm missing a piece of me." She admits.
"I feel ya." Richie says.
"Richie!?"
"Hey.."
"Why are you here? I thought I told you to go away."
"We both miss each other."
"I know but I'm still mad at you."
"I'm mad at me too, ok?"
"Rich.."
"I know I'm a fuck up and I know I say a bunch of dumb stuff but I'm really genuinely sorry. I shouldn't have said that because it's not something you need to hear from me."
"Neither was the Jen thing. I'm sorry for that.""C'mere." Richie motioned, holding his arms open.
(Y/n) jumped into his embrace and held him tightly. The
two were really happy to have their best friend back. (Y/n) heard a sniffle come from Richie, so she rubbed his back in attempt to calm him down a little bit. "It's ok. I'm not mad anymore, Richie." She hums. He hugs her a bit tighter and she smiles. "I missed my best friend." She says.
"Stan missed you too, he wouldn't shut up about it."
(Y/n) pulled back and looked a little offended."Jokes, jokes! Calm woman! I missed you too." Richie jokes. "Wanna watch Step Brothers?" He asked
"Yeah. We're kinda like them in a way."
"But I'm Dale." Richie smiled.
"I can see it." (Y/n) joked. And that's where we end today's chapter. Do you guys like Step Brothers? Cause I think it's really funny but my mom thinks it's really stupid. But she likes Borat, so I question her taste a little. Anyways, have a great day and a good weekend!
