Chapter Thirty-One
Boom Town*---*---*---*---*---*
"Good morning," the Doctor grinned as Emma and Rose walked into the console room, Jack finishing up the morning coffee for them.
"Morning," Rose yawned.
"Someone's tired," Jack teased as he held out two mugs, handing her one while Emma grabbed the other and left a kiss on his cheek in thank you.
She sat in the console seat as she drank her coffee and watched the Doctor rummage around for something in his tool draw. "What're you doing?"
He looked up at her and smiled, "Fixing the TARDIS panel board it's been fritzing up lately." A knock sounded at the front door as he left and made his way up the stairs, "Get that, won't you, Jackie boy?"
Jack looked over at him and sighed, "Sometimes I think you just keep me around to use and abuse me."
"He's clever, isn't he?" the Doctor asked and Jack couldn't help but chuckle as Rose and Emma laughed.
He jogged down the ramp and threw open the door, "Who the hell are you?" he questioned, looking at a dark-skinned guy, probably in his early twenties.
"What do you mean, who the hell am I?" the guy retorted. "Who the hell are you?"
"Captain Jack Harkness. Whatever you're selling, we're not buying," Jack bluntly stated, only to get pushed aside.
"Get out of my way!"
"Don't tell me," Jack said, closing the TARDIS door. "This must be Mickey."
"Here comes trouble," the Doctor remarked, grinning. "How you doing, Ricky boy?"
"It's Mickey."
Rose walked up to him, smiling. "Don't listen to him, he's winding you up."
"You look fantastic!" he complimented and she grabbed him in a hug as Emma walked up behind them. "Emma, look at you, been forever!"
"Yeah, feels like it," she smiled back at him as he gave her a hug. "It's good to see you, Mickey."
"You too."
"Aw, sweet," Jack commented. "Look at these three. How come I never get any of that?" he asked, looking up at the Doctor.
"Buy me a drink first."
"Such hard work."
"But worth it," the Doctor beamed, going back to work on the wiring of the panel.
"Did you manage to find it?" Rose asked as Mickey pulled something out of his jacket pocket and handed it to her before handing one to Emma too.
"There you go."
"We can go anywhere now," Emma bragged.
"I told you, you don't need a passport," the Doctor replied, looking at them confused.
Rose scoffed in amusement, "It's all very well and good going to Platform One and Justicia and the Glass Pyramid of San Kaloon, but what happens if we end up in Brazil?"
"Yeah," Emma agreed. "We might need it, just being prepared for anything."
Mickey frowned at Rose as she smiled, "Sounds like you're staying, then."
Her smile dropped as she looked back at him and Emma quickly back stepped until she was next to Jack again. Rose and Mickey's relationship problems not really her cup of tea so early in the morning.
