09 || Alone

"Yue! Wait up!" I giggled and yelled to my sister as we ran down stairs through the palace.

"Come on, Hai! I want to see the surprise mom got us!" Yue responded.

"Girls! Please, slow down." My dad laughed as he picked up the two of us off the stairs.

"Where's mom?!" Yue and I asked excited.

"She's coming out to us, we have to wait." My dad laughs as he sets the two of us down.

"Hello Princesses, happy third birthday." Master Pakku said as he came into the palace's main room to congratulate us, bowing.

"Thank you Master Pakku." Me and Yue said in unison as we bowed back.

"Okay girls, close your eyes!" We heard our mother's voice. We laughed in excitement as we placed our icy gloves over our eyes.

As we sat with our eyes closed, we heard ice sliding on ice. It sounded as if it was being bent or maybe it felt like it was being bent.

"Open!" We hear our mother and father say.

We open our eyes and we're greeted with our favorite foods and a giant box of gifts.

"Yay!" I yelled as I leaped towards the table and began quickly eating my favorite food which was Arctic char.

"Thank you mom!" Yue yelled in excitement and hugged our mother.

"We also have individual gifts for the both of you. Hai, you come with me for yours." My father said.

"Yue you'll come with me." My mother said.

"But what about the food??" I question.

My dad laughs in response, "It will still be here when we're done. Don't worry it will be quick." He says.

Happily, I take a piece of arctic char and held my fathers hand as he led me out of the palace.

We got into a boat and made our way over to a big building, outside of the building was Healer Yugoda.

"Hello Healer Yugoda!" I yelled, waving my hands high in the air.

"Hello Princess Hai, happy birthday!" She laughed and waved in return.

My father helped me out of the boat and onto the ice. I ran up to Healer Yugoda to give her a big hug. I heard my dad following after me.

"What's the surprise?" I question.

"Hai, we all have decided that it's time for you to start taking healing lessons from healer Yugoda." My father says, kneeling down to my height, smiling.

My face glows in excitement.

"Really?! I really get to water bend?!" I say jumping up and down.

My father laughs slightly, "No no no, Hai. You get to heal! The women water benders get to be strong healers for the soldiers."

"I could be a soldier!" I say jumping.

My father laughs, "You'll start your healing lessons tomorrow, Hai."

"Yay! Does Yue get to join?!" I question.

"Yue isn't a water bender, Hai." My dad says.

"Yue can join Hai if she'd like to." Healer Yugoda says smiling.

"Yay! Me and Yue can learn healing and be the best healers in the world!" I say flexing my arm muscles.

My father and healer Yudoga laugh, then my dad speaks, "She'll understand eventually."
